Open water swim

Post by spek »

Since January, I've have been training for open water swimming events this summer. I've made great progress with the swimming and the swim coach is impressed with progress. She tells me to be competitive in age group, I need to get body fat between 8-10%. And build upper body strength (3 sets of 20 pull-ups and bench press body weight).

I'm about 16% body fat, So, I have 10 lbs to loose. I've never dieted or watched what I eat. The first open water swim is last weekend in May, So I'd like to loose the weight by then. Is this possible? whats a good diet?

Congrats on all your hard work and training!

I don't mean to avoid the question, but 18% body fat is right in the athletic range, unless you're at a pretty high level of competition. I want to ask these questions, if you're open to answering them:

1. What is your age category?
2. What is your gender?
3. Do you think 10 lbs is do-able?/Do YOU think you have 10 lbs to lose?
4. How has your body fat % been measured?
5. Do you trust the coach?
6. What's your training schedule like?
