Sounds like possible Alupecia.

You may need to see a Trichologist, (Hair specialist), or Dermatologist, (skin specialist), for topical therapies, or some kind of gentle non-invasive technique.

If it's Alupecia, then potentially there's nothing you can do. Sometimes it corrects itself fully in time, sometimes it doesn't.

Another possibility is Folliculitis, which is inflammation of the hair folicles, which if I remember correctly, can cause some hair loss and I think itching and flakiness to the scalp as well.

Baldness can be linked ot DHT, (Di-hydro testoterone), but that is usually a byproduct of too much testosterone and in females I doubt that would happen, unless you've been using certain types of steroids as a medical modality, or for bodybuiilding, which in the case of the latter I'm 100% certain won't apply to you.

So unless you've been prescribed a steroid product by a medic for some reason, it's a follicular / dermal problem almost certainly, either viral or inflammatory. A doctor would the be first port of call and definitely with a potential view to seeing a Trichologist and / or Dermatologist.

Good luck and try not to worry too much okay :).

Do you have other symptoms ... muscle and joint pains, neck discomfort or enlargement, skin changes (i.e. dryness), bowel problems, menstrual irregularities and fertility problems, night sweats, body thermostat not seeming to work well, depression and anxiety, fatigue ...

These and the hair loss are all symptoms caused by thyroid problems. Either way it doesn't hurt to go in a talk to your doctor and keep them informed about changes to your health.

It could be as a result of some form of Alupecia, not necessarily because of some kind of deficiencies.

Foliculitis could also be a possible thing to check out.

i have some hair loss too more in the past couple years since i became obese and i have a lot of weight to lose. I know you've lost quite a bit. I went to an endcinologist for obesity who said it was common for people who are obese to lose hair. But i don't know if you've already lost if it that counts too.

How did you lose your weight? Are you taking any medications? If you were eating very restricted foods it is possible you have a severe vitamin/mineral deficiency. Perhaps consider taking a multivitamin if you don't do so already. Hair loss could also be due to a side effect of a medication you are taking. For sure go to the doctor/NP and get tested for everything other posters mentioned. Good luck to you and keep us posted!

A healthy diet could also help to stop a thinning hairline. Nutrition plays a role in hair growth and reproduction. People who have enough proteins and vitamins from their diet grow a healthier mane than people who lacks these nutrients.

If your thinning hairline is causing you too much stress than you can handle, it may be time to go for modern approaches to cure it.
There’s a medicine called DHT blockers specific to prevent hair loss. DHT or dihydrotestosterone is a hormone that attacks hair roots causing the hair to thin and fall out. Excessive amounts of DHT in both men and woman can be controlled with supplements containing DHT blockers that are formulated to control activity of DHT in the body thus stopping thinning hairline on its tracks.
Hope this helps.

I've sense found out i may have pcos which has hair loss as a side effect sometimes and tends to effect people who are overweight. They said sometimes the hair grows back sometimes not after you get on birth control pills. She should definitely go to a doctor! i wish i would have asked about this a long time ago to doctor.

This seems a serious issue. Try to consult a doctor regarding this to avoid further problems or complications.

this is very common problem in mens and womans. To control the hair fall -stop trying home made remedies, because we don't know the reason of hair fall. You have to choose any one hair shampoo of best quality. You can try oil for stopping hair fall. There are variety of shampoo for different types of hair.Almond oil is the best option for it.Hair spa is also suitable for it.

i think really hair loss for women has to do with your hormones and really could be a NUMBER of things from hormones, to genetics to aging. and probably seeing an endocrinologist or a doctor of some kind to rule out stuff might be the way to go for most people. I lost hair but i spoke with the endocrinolgist and he said it can grow back for me. and i have noticed hair loss has stopped since i've been on some meds to correct the imbalance. so i'm hopeful. I hope it worked out for you!

Another option is, instead of consulting an endocrinologist, is to consult a Trichologist, as they specialise in circumstances relating to hair.

Of course you can always consult the Endo or the Trichologist as well if you'd prefer.
