I'm still around :) Just working a ton of hours and traveling to California a lot (in fact, that's where I am right now). They are trying to talk me into moving here so I have a lot of thinking to do.

Becky, I am not doing the half marathon this year. They moved the weekend ahead one week and I have to work that weekend, plus I haven't had the time to train. Hopefully next year!! The next run I am signed up for is an Ugly Sweater Run the weekend of thanksgiving :) Should be fun! One of these days I will get some pics posted from the freak 5k!

As for the migraines, I am on a new preventative med for them. I'm going to give it a little more time, but so far the side effects suck so I don't know if I can last much longer. I will admit the side effects are getting better, so maybe they will go away! So far the migraines are mostly under control so that's good :) I've considered trying gluten free to see if it helps but not sure I can handle it. As for dairy - I live in Wisconsin - enough said :Hahabonk:

I'm still having some other medical issues monitored, but I think all is going well.

I'll try to catch up with everyone soon :)

I'm sorry to hear you are going through a few things Jocelyn, but it's good to know in the main that they are under control.

I'm sending you a BIG HUG and I'm thinking of you misses. You're a fantastic person and I'm proud of you for being you, so chin up, be strong and keep believing and know we are all here for you and this place shines bit less when you're not around :).

When I was in California for work I got a really bad toothache on day 1 - and as I've mentioned before I am allergic to OTC pain meds so I had to suffer through whole trip :( When I landed at home on Thursday I went straight from the airport to the dentist - they couldn't find the problem so they scheduled me with a specialist on Friday afternoon (which meant another day if suffering). Luckily they figured it out and two hours and a root canal later, I'm as good as new  What a miserable week! But now the pain is gone so back to exercise routine!

I am struggling a little with workouts - runs are slower than ever. The meds I am on make legs feel like bricks. But after some bloodwork they discovered the meds were sapping up all if iron (I was at a dangerously low level) so I am now taking an iron supplement so that should help! At least I won't feel like I'm moving at the pace of an inchworm :)

Another side effect if medicine is that I don't sweat as much - now, at first I thought that was a good thing  but then I quickly realized how fast body overheats so I have been keeping runs to short distances. But at least I am getting out there.

I am told these side effects should minimize over time so I will give it a little more time before stopping. I really enjoy not having migraines :)

So presumably then it's just a temporary thing, as I can't imagine you'll need those medications forever will you.

The meds could be forever - until I can get migraines under control with another method the meds are what is helping. Now, I am very well aware that the migraines have started up again since new job (aka higher stress) started. So once I can either get that under control or find a new job, I'm afraid I'm stuck on these pills :(

I am sorry to hear that you have migraines. Have you ever tried acupuncture?

Tough situation... They might minimize the side effects after a while. One med i take i had side effects in the beginning but now rarely have any. Still would be better if you could find a different solution without taking anything but i know easier said than done..

have you ever heard of the green bay packers 5k?? someone on facebook page ran it this weekend. Goes right on Lambeau field which is pretty cool! Long drive for a 5k though for me at least.

Are you taking a daily medication for your migraines? I am taking the one that’s “as needed” because it’s pretty strong! I’ve been reading on some stuff about migraines and other options… I’ve looked in to a pillow that helps with headaches/migraines.

I also looked in to herbal tea to ease the pain. So far I've tried oolong & Camellia tea for head aches but I will try to get Sichuan lovage and/or ligusticum tea for migraines... Look in to it if it can help! I totally understand about migraines!!!

I'd heed caution on teas, just because caffeine can block iron intake, thereby reducing the bodies potential to make Erythrocytes, the red blood cells that transport oxygen around the body and also caffeine constricts blood vessels, so there's a possibility that reduced oxygen content in the body, plus slower mobility of oxygen around the blood pathways, might not necessarily be a beneficial thing in terms of mediating migraines.

So you might want to do a bit of research on that :)

Thanks bossman for the insight! In the Asian community people always talk about herbs and tea helps with everything when it comes to medicine. I'm more with western medicine... pop in a pill. Not good for liver but it help ease the pain!

I went off migraine meds because of the side effects, I just couldn't take it anymore! Now in the past week I have had 2 - go figure! Oh well, the meds were too rough on me.

I bought the Insanity workout program. I will be starting it tonight :D I am excited, but terrified at the same time! I took measurements last night and tonight before I start I am going to take a photo so that I can track progress both of those ways as well as weight.

Speaking of weight, I am back to where I started again :( But I did lose 1.8 pounds in the last week (I started weighing myself again last Wedensday and will weigh once a week).

Here's to hoping Insanity doesn't kill me

What do you think it was that caused the weight gain? If you don't want to say that's perfectly okay, because I'm not going to judge you for anything you say anyway, but GOOD LUCK and be proud of what you have already done again and also for not giving up on yourself.

I will always be proud of you for being the person you are in your head and heart, because I think it's terrific, but no matter what we are here for you and you always go through each and every day with our very best wishes, respect and admiration for you as a beautiful human being and I'm sending you a BIG HUG to let you know I'm thinking of you and when life gets a bit rough message me anytime okay, because I will never stop trying to be here for you when I can be :).

Hmm let's start after half marathon last September...I had foot injuries directly after so I took it easy a little longer than expected. Then we had a terribly bitter winter so I just never got back into running regularly and I had a hard time getting myself motivated. Then I accepted new position and I have been ridiculously busy with work/travel. And I just sort of let the stress get the best of me and I stopped eating healthy because it was quicker and more convenient not to. So basically I just didn't follow through with everything. I'm trying to focus on exercise to fight the stress now. I'm also trying to cut back work hours a little at a time.

I did the fit test from Insanity tonight  That was insane (no pun intended!). I can see this will get me into shape in no time  I'm supposed to do it 6 times per week but I'm shooting for 5 a week, it will just take me a little longer to complete, but I can't commit to 6 times every week, I would have to stop sleeping!

I took BEFORE pics before I did the fit test. Between the pics, measurements, and weight, I could cry :( But I am excited to be able to see the results! I usually just do weight.
