Hammer Curls to Shoulder Press

Post by bgq »

Hi,

Currently, I do hammer curls and shoulder press exercises separately.

I like to know the pros and cons of combining hammer curls and shoulder press into a single exercise as in this video:

Thanks in advance.

I don't see any downsides to that barring poor form, but the upsides would be you could work some or all of the following muscles such as the biceps, triceps, traps, rhomboids, splenis capitis, upper erector and multifidus area, rotator cuff muscles, forearm muscles, teres major, brachialis, delts and levator scapulae, so there is potentially a lot of primary and secondary recruitment of muscles in the arms and upper back, the key then is just get the form right and balance it out with the appropriate level(s) of stimuli in the worked areas, when you do other exercises, to make sure you maintain parallel growth rates and avoid muscle imbalances.
