One Set training

Post by bgq »

Hi,

Someone trains for pure strength as a general fitness. He has no professional goals. However, due to time limitations, he considers doing only one set of 5 reps of each exercise, so the whole workout takes only 25 minutes including warm up.

Will he achieve any progress with only one set? What are the pros and cons of this approach?

Thanks for any replies.

opinion--if you do the 5 reps slowly (5 sec. to lift, 5 sec. to lower) and use a challenging weight, yes, you should be able to make progress. Why not give it a try for 4 weeks and see what happens?
