What exercises do you do for lower back pain?

Post by fuzzster »

I have a herniated disk in lower back which can cause be annoying at times and shooting pains if I am careless or inconsistent with exercise. Right now I do side plank, curl ups, and bird dogs.

What other exercises and stretches can I do help to help with low back pain?

Hi Fuzzster, good to talk to you.

You could see if you can do any good mornings with no weight and see how you get on. If there is some pain stop doing them.

Are you cleared by your doctor for exercise?

I'd start with some body weight exercise to help strengthen your glutes. Hip bridges are a good, gentle start.

Hi,

I do not have an official diagnosis for back pain, but I have had back pain off and on for the last 20 years. I follow a program called The Back Coach or Coach Back... anyway it is 8 different stretches that naturally help you without relying on drugs.

Good Luck on your trek for relief!!!

Riding the stationary bike is a good exercise for people who have back issues.
