Post by DevilWrath »

i heard that interval training is highly effective on shedding pounds of fats, but i don't quite understand how it's done. is
sprinting on the tread mill for 90 secs, then rest for 1 minute and sprint on treadmill for 120 sec interval training? please correct me if i'm wrong

There are lots of ways to do intervals. They are basically bouts of intense exercise followed by a recovery period. Sooo.... if you were to sprint for one minute, rest for one minute, sprint for one minute, rest for one minute... you would be doing intervals. Yes, that workout that you mentioned would be an example of intervals. The great thing about intervals is that you can do them by sprinting, or on a bike, elliptical, stair stepper, or any other form of exercise/exercise equipment where you can combine bouts of intense exercise with less intense.

Hope this helps. :)

ooo i see but why does it burn fat so effectively? why doesn't jogging on a treadmill work? oh and does weight training for 40 minutes before doing sprints and cardio makes me burn more fat?

Intervals burn fat because you are working harder than if you were just jogging on a treadmill. Jogging on a treadmill will burn calories, but anaerobic exercises such as intervals, stairs, plyometrics, and weights are more effective at taxing the muscles and burning fat.

Instead of doing weights and sprints on the same day you might consider doing weights three days a week and sprints a couple of days a week (on your days off from lifting). By doing them on separate days you will get more out of your weight routine and more out of your sprinting/cardio routine.

Hope this helps. ;)
