switch from fat to muscle

Post by jelav102 »

i'd like to ask how long/how hard is it to transform 1 pound of fat into 1 pound of muscle? (note that i KNOW the fat isnt really TRANSFORMED into muscle, but you know what i actually mean)

the fact is that i started over wt program 5 weeks ago + a lot of cardio (4-5 times a week, intervals and endurance) and i still weight 127,5. Sounds like i'm stuck with that number.

diet is pretty clean but i LOVE to eat a little chocolate or candy 3-4 times a week or a little resto, nothing too exagerated but i can't replace that with carrots or whatever...it's psychological!

on the other hand, i think i noticed that some parts of body look leaner and cut, but maybe it isn't really the case, hard to tell since i see myself everyday.

Thanks for the info

Hi there,

You're correct, you cant transform fat into muscle (muscle to fat).

The calculation for fat loss is: 1 pound of fat = about 3500 calories. However, this calculation is often skewed as so many other factors can come into play.

If you're not losing on the scale a couple of things could be happening:

1) You're either taking in more calories than you realize making it difficult to lose weight OR youre not taking in enough calories and your body has gone into "starvation mode" and is holding on to every ounce of fat in an effort to survive. If you want to post your diet we can look at that and see whats going on.

OR

2) You could be losing fat and gaining muscle and are therefor not seeing the results on your scale. If you're noticing that your clothes are fitting differently then this could be the case. You could go have your body fat measured (by a professional, NOT by one of those scales that you buy at the store) and see what your body fat level is. Once you get this figure you could have it tested again in a few weeks to see if youre making progress. This is a great way to track results as it measures the amount of fat that youre losing.

I hope this helps,

Cassie

first off cassie (or someone) has to see your "WHOLE" diet over the last few weeks, make sure you include times of your eating and frequency.

also, lets PRETEND after cassie sees your diet it looks good to go, only YOU know if your being truthful about the frequency of your "occasional chocolate or candy".

One other thing, you'd never replace candy with carrots. A large serving of carrots should never be part of your regimen either, only occasional, but instead chose high nutrition/low carbs carbohydrates, carrots would not be at the top of that list. Your greens would be first.

Lastly, after cassie looks at your diet, be sure to survey how acid-rich your total intake is. If its more on the acid side, your cellular metabolism may be very weak... and while a truly well-timed, healthy diet WILL still work, appropriate alkaline/acid 3:1 general ratio should be strived for to ensure full efficiency. But bottom line, be truthful about EVERYTHING you put into your body for Cassie, because she has the answers you need, provided your candid about it.

thanks for the advice Jumanji23

For cassie: i'm actually in exam week so really busy. Also, i never track what i eat so i'll end up this week and then try to note everything for u to understand more about what i eat.

For time and frequency i can tell I generally eat 3 meals a day and 2 medium snacks. Know i should maybe eat another meal in the evening but it's still not part of routine. Exemple: breakfast at 7h, snack at 9h30-10h, lunch at 12h30-13h, snack at 14h30-15h and then diner at 17h30-18h

thanks for ur attention to msgs

rather than note what your eating, why not plan it in advance that way youve not got an excuse to eat bad.
