Hi there,
Welcome to our site!
What are you currently doing as far as diet and training goes? What does a typical day look like for you regarding foods you eat? Do you do any cardio or weight training?
Tell us just a little more about yourself and we'll go from there.
Cassie

Hi Blue Jeans,
Congratulations on making the decision to pursue a healthier lifestyle. I'm also 52, 230. I started going to a gym in Dec. 08 and love it. I use to think the best thing for weight loss was cardio, cardio and more cardio. I have since learned that performing resistance excercises several times a week along with moderate cardio will be more beneficial. That being said with the warm weather coming if you enjoy bike riding, running, walking etc don't be afraid to mix in a good long cardio session now and then. I enjoy going to the local ski area and hiking up to the top (if you try something like this bring lots of water, insect repellant and sunscreen)
I'm certainly no expert but the firm muscle tissue you will develop by including weight training in your workout routines will burn more calories than the fat that you will be replacing. I've read that some people who do lots of cardio and only cardio do lose weight, however they will be losing muscle as well as fat. You might want to try a few sessions with a personal trainer. A number of gyms will give you a couple sessions at no cost. This is a great site to find many different excercises for all your body parts. I try new ones every couple weeks to keep from getting bored
Good luck and I'll look for you in a bikini this summer.
