doctors appointment is Tuesday - I'm really looking forward to it and hopefully getting some answers to questions and aches and pains. Bossman, I really don't think I'm physically depressed and need medication, but will keep everything in consideration. I'm bored and need something to do besides worry about aches and pains!Maybe it is all in head! Not! I finally decided to make a call to a local company that offers Seniors assistance, and will interview sometime this month. I really feel if I can offer services to those in need, it will be a win, win situation. I love people and can cook, clean, play games, drive to appointments, etc, basically be there for someone (companion) when they need it...I feel it will give me the purpose and structure I need. I felt better just making the phone call! :):) At the same time I received a call from a friend who wanted to let me know of a position at a local bank comparable to what I did before...after thinking about it a few days I don't plan to pursue it as I really don't want to work full time in such a demanding position. I know I'd give it 200% , I've been there, done that already - and I'm truly excited about working with seniors!

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday and have a very Happy New Year! I hope to get back on track soon and join all the fun here on Shape Fit!

I think that is a fantastic idea! I think you would really like it, and it would really brighten someone elses life, just being around your positive, upbeat energy. Helping others is a very empowering and healing thing. By giving of yourself to others, what you are given in return is just as great.

Ok, looks like there isn't really any reason outside of arthritis and the only way to really combat it is to EXERCISE~! I will start taking Ibprophen or Aleve daily in the hopes that it will relieve aches enough to get into a regular workout routine. At the same time I need to shed some pounds - will go on the 17 day diet to get a jump start and then normal healthy food in healthy portions. husband is going to join me so maybe we can get each other in line. I really believe getting out helping others on a regular basis will energize me as well :)

I feel guilty using a "Workout Journal" for updates with what I see as failure to take action (for whatever reason, doesn't really matter), but I hope it will BE a Workout /food journal again! Thanks everyone and have a great day!

Other things to possibly consider are things like Chondroitin, MSM, Hyaluronic Acid, edible oil products like Fish Oil, Krill Oil etc.

I came down with a cold/cough not quite flu and am just getting over it. BUT I have good news!

A few weeks ago Rick and I started the 17 Day Diet as I want to lose at least 10 lbs before starting fitness routine again. Well I made it and here I am. In fact yesterday as I was cleaning home in preparation for a football party (Go Giants!) it was like a cloud was lifted and I felt alive and READY to begin program. I won't be continuing the 17 Day diet, maybe parts of it because I love the Pomegranite Green Tea, but will just watch what I eat - eat healthy and in the correct portions.

So, today's workout - keep in mind that I want to start slow, light weights..and not push myself too hard...

Warmed up with 15 minutes on the treadmill, then 50 Windmills

Leg Raises 2 sets of 10
Hip Thrusts 2 sets of 15
Kick Backs 2 sets of 15
(Those three were ones I did when I first started exercising EVER, it worked (I lost 45 lbs, so I'm going back a bit to the beginning, although I stated doing 3 sets of 12 ...oh well I'll get there)

Incline Flyes 2 sets of 25 5 lb DB's (I love these, so I have to include them to make me smile)
Single Arm Rows 2 sets of 15- 15 lb DB's
Sumo Squats 2 Sets of 15 - 10 lb DB
Dead lifts - 2 Sets of 15 (45 lb bar only) (Hard to believe I did 150 lbs once upon a time)
Squats (BB) 2 sets of 10 - 65 lbs.

Good start, I feel good. I've got a long way to go - I gained a ton of weight, but suffice it to say after losing the 10 initial lbs. I've got at least 20 to go.

Have a great day!

Yay!! Lu's BACK!!!!! :D :D :D

You got this girl!! I like your workout, very solid, no fuss, no muss, just good ole basics. And that is what works, so I know you are going to do great.
Your positive attitude is always such an inspiring thing.
To me, inspirational people aren't always the ones who do perfect all the time - it's the ones who, just like most of the population, struggle from time to time, fall behind - but always, ALWAYS find their way back and don't give up. :D

Thanks Lynne!

Today I didn't do weights, and I'm not inclined to do too much on the treadmill due to knees for cardio, sooooo I cleaned like a madwoman today! What's great is that I WANTED to! Not that I've been neglecting home but you know..it just felt good today! I feel good :)

Tomorrow cousin is coming for the day and we'll be going for a walk, at least 4 miles. It's beautiful here, we had 5-6 inches of snow a few days ago, but it's gone and fairly mild - you only need a sweatshirt outside. This cousin is the runner, she use to run 6 miles a day!! Yikes! Hope she won't expect much from me in the running department.

Later on in the day I will do weight training and will report in....until then, Ciao!

Hey Nokie!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's good to be back :)

Phew! That's for sure...I actually had someone come to clean all carpets and I had to move all the furniture...not an easy job! Then once the carpets dried I very carefully, methodically cleaned every little thing before moving it back..you know, all the chair legs, plants (I actually washed leaves, sick huh?) After everything was in place I washed all wood floors...I was beat!

This morning I woke to very few aches....when cousin got here we drove to dogs groomers, left Precious for a bath and then walked to Enders Island...very nice walk......just about 4 miles...it was chilly but in opinion just right! We then picked up Precious (she was beautiful!) and went home. I took 3 ibupropen before going for a walk...preventative maintenance. I was planning to do weights tonight but I'm going to save that for tomorrow morning - get energized for the day!

I feel good!!

So, lesson learned....I need to pace myself! A 4 mile "walk" is too much for this ol' gal right off the bat, BUT I'm still on track to do weights M-W-F...maybe cardio needs to tone down a bit - lol

Today

50 Windmills - no Treadmill today ;)

Incline Flyes - 2 x 15, 5 lb DB's
SAR - 2 x 15, 15 lb DB's
Lat Pull downs - 2 x 15, 50 lbs
Stiff Legged Deads - 2 x 15 - 45 lbs
Squats (BB) - 2 x 10, 65 lbs.
Reverse Lunges - 2 x 10 x 2
Step ups - 2 x 15

Not much but like I said starting slow...will ramp up weights and/or reps, sets as I go.

Wednesday's friend Tiffany is going to come over to work out - looking forward to it.

Have a great day!

I thought it was sandals this summer....but no, not a shoe issue. aches and pains were fairly normal after a hiatus and then going right into a 4 mile walk. I know that doesn't sound like much but I need to take it slower. I do still have issues with knees and right foot, but nothing like before. whole body hurt, but I think it was due to general malaise at the time.

The workout went well with Tiffany. it'll take some time to get into a routine - she brings her beautiful kids with her, twin 6 years old and a 9/10 year old, not sure which. They are very well behaved but it does require that we be a little flexible. But here goes, this is what we did:

Squat jumps with medicine ball - 3 x 10 - 6 lb ball
Incline Flyes 3 x 15 - 8 lb DB's
Single Arm Rows - 3 x 10 x 2 - 20 lb DB
Lat Pull Downs 3 x 10 - 50 lbs
Squats 3 x 10 - 65 lbs BB

Tiffany is 40 and in GREAT shape! She really wants to expand her weight training...some of the weights we used were a little heavier than she was use to, for example for the weighted squats and Lat Pulldowns. But she's very fit! And she's a great gal! Hopefully we'll be able to get together every Wednesday as planned - she lives in the next state, not too far but not just down the block.

I'm not feeling that great - I had a cough/cold, not quite the flu for almost 2 weeks and thought I had it kicked (finished antibiotics)- was starting to feel better. Today I was a mess...coughing, sneezing.....so, I just took some Ibuprofen for sore muscles and a Zyrtec . We're going to NY for the weekend to see Phantom of the Opera and dine with 35 close friends ;) We plan to be back for the Super Bowl on Sunday (taking a train) Hope I 'm ok...
Go Giants!!
!

Hope you had a great day!
