Yes, those are the shoes I have - and yes, they do have a smaller toe box, but I did buy them a 1/2 size bigger than I normally wear so I have plenty of room. By running differently, I mean I normally run more on the outsides of feet, so ankles sort of go outwards. And I was always buying shoes that had really high arch supports so it made me run on the outsides of feet even more. Now these shoes are more neutral (which I was told was better for feet specifically) so I am running a little more flat, so I no longer favor the outsides of feet. It felt kind of strange at first because I feel like ankles are going in, but it just took some getting used to! No ankle pain today, so I think I should be good with these shoes now :D

I have the mud run tomorrow. I'm a little nervous for it, but we are just doing it for fun, not to be competitive, so it should be interesting

Good Luck on your mud run too! that i would be much more nervous about than 5k. :) just because at weight i think it would probably be hard to do. But it does sound like fun and i'm sure you will have a nice time! Have fun. :)

The mud run was so much fun! It was only 2.5 miles but it was a tremendous workout, I am more sore than I am after a 10k  It was on a farm so they corralled us in a pen before the start, it was pretty fitting  Then throughout the race they had people ringing cowbells  the first 1/2 mile was just a mob of people, it didn't thin out until we hit the first creek crossing. Oh, the water felt wonderful!!!! Until we climbed out  then it was mud pit after mud pit for a while. We had to wade through creeks and mud pits and then climb over huge mud mounds! Then came the hills  keep in mind this was out in the middle of very hilly country, on a farm. The hills were so steep that EVERYONE had to walk them, and even that was difficult. We then had 3 hurdles to climb over - they were not easy but we managed to do it. Some people didn't even attempt them, they just walked around. After that we had a log crossing - I have to admit, I considered going around. It was about 20 feet long and 15 feet down  I was terrified!!!! But I sucked it up and focused on the log, trying not to look down. Falling would have hurt....

After the log crossing was when blister started to act up. It was already popped from earlier this week, but it was really hurting. I tried to ignore it. I was running with friend though, and she needed to walk a lot, especially with the hills, so it would have been worse if I had been by myself. At the end we had to climb a crazy steep hill, then to get down the hill they had a huge tarp going down - there were two people spraying soap and water on it while we slid down  The slide ended in a pool of muddy water, and then a slight downhill run to the finish. I have to say, the slide was terrifying but fun! We tried to slide together but got separated - I somehow turned around and went backwards until I slammed into friend in the puddle

I'm not sure what our time was, but I think it was around 54 minutes. I would have done closer to 30-35 if I had run alone, but that wouldn't have been as much fun!!!

There were several times I came close to turning an ankle, the ground really was rough. All I could think of was hurting myself and not being able to run the half marathon!!! When I took shoes off I looked at blister and it was a huge flap of skin just hanging there - no wonder it hurt so bad, the raw skin was exposed! I will have to be careful to keep it clean.

I will post pics in profile since I can't figure out how to get them in here. The pic of the slide doesn't even come close to doing it justice!!!!

Sorry about the lost post Jocelyn, I tried to get rid of the edited double post and the original went as well.

You can link to pictures on here, by using the tags and linking via something like photobucket, picasa, flickr etc.

I also want to say WELL DONE for finishing the race and for not letting some of things that could have put you off, put you off. I'm proud of you because all these little things represent a progress in terms of a mindset and an emotion shift and you should be proud of that too.

You're becoming a more all round person in your own outlook of your physical needs and I feel you have progressed since you first came here and you have found more of your inner voice and you have discovered more of the self confidence that I think existed.

You've always been one of the best types of people I've ever come across, which is unconventional in its way, but although we will probably never meet, your written words and your emotion, tell me so much about what a beautiful and uniquely human person you are.

These physical challenges you are going through such as mud runs and half marathon training, are what you need to discover more about your own capabilities and inner self and to help you overcome some of the negative comments and situations you may have faced in your past.

Some people may have chosen in the past to think you were not good enough, to achieve what I beleive you CAN achieve and may have thought to themselves or told you in effect, that you were just some dumpy female that would never be as physically attractive, as you imagined yourself capable of being.

I don't know a lot of the sort of things you've experienced, or what you've been through emotionally in the past 15+ years Jocelyn, but I know the sort of things you have had to deal with in recent years, not least some of the injuries you sustained and throughout it all you've remained a fairly upbeat and emotionally beautiful person, who has never given up on themselves and you manage to humble me quite often by just being who you are.

I'm sending you a BIG HUG, because I really am so proud of you. I think a lot of you Jocelyn and I hope you continue to keep believing in yourself and finding out more about who you are. You're a bit special in your own way and you deserve to be happy because you ARE worth it and that's why I can continue to come here and believe in and support people like you, because you make it easy for me.

Your body is not getting bigger now, what is getting bigger are your physical achievements, the level of admiration from others and the individual that exists in your head and your heart and you are continuing to grow and blossom all the time and one day soon you will have a body that is a wonderful compliment to your subtle, earthy, beautiful looks; so keep smiling, chin up, best wishes and no worries okay and when you need a bit of personal one to one, message me anytime, because uncoinditonal strength remains yours to take as much of without asking or apology :).

You deserve to be proud of yourself Jocelyn, because you're a true Lady, a great contributor and a great friend to people on here.

THANK YOU :)

Thanks Bossman and Becky :D

Bossman, which post did you delete? I don't see a missing post...

I am getting quite frustrated, I am trying to upload photos but it tells me they must be in JPEG format - photos are in that format. I think I recall Becky and Lynne having this issue recently as well, is there a to it?

Can anyone help me figure out how to get the pictures in the body of posts? I just cannot figure it out!!!! I don't save pics online, I don't trust photobucket, etc, so I can't link that way.

I tried upload a photo just now and it worked for me. :? i used a photo from camera though and not cell phone. Not sure if that would matter. It shouldn't matter.
I had that same issue a couple of times actuallly,. Luckily today it worked for me.

I think the only way to post it in the body of your post is to use photobucket. when you go to photobucket they have a link for images (just like the word img that is listed at the top of this post when you are writing it) you copy and paste that link and put in the body of the post. That is the only way i know how to do it. don't know if there is any other way.

Actually you don't have to use photobucket. Here is what I do - On your Shapefit profile page, click on "upload photos" and upload a photo, then click on that photo to open it up, right click on it and in the drop down list you will see towards the bottom "View Image Info". Click on that. A box will open up. Where is says "Location:" - to the right of it you select all of that picture info, either by double clicking on that line, or by selecting at the beginning of the line and dragging cursor across to include all of it. Then you "copy" that line. Then click on Forums (or open another tab or browser window) and go to your Fitracker journal page - click "post reply" - then click on the little square above the text box that says "Img" and where your cursor is flashing you "paste" your image info. Go to preview to check - you should see the picture.
I like doing it this way, to me it's more secure, no way to trace to photobucket or other online sharing sites that might have more personal info.
At least that's what I hope. 8)

Yes, the upload photo option in your profile also works.
feelin-great wrote: Bossman, which post did you delete? I don't see a missing post...
Well you wouldn't would you because it's accidentally been deleted from the system, so it's like you saying I can't see something that no longer exists, why not?

You posted something and then after a double post occured you amended the second post, to say oops double post, or words to that affect.

I then tried to delete the second amended post, but the original got canned at the same time.

This has been a slight on and off glitch with with the forums for several months now. I don't think it's permanent, as it's intermittent and seems to come and go, but owing to the nature of the problem, it's very difficult for a programmer to replicate it and work out how to resolve it, so I may be forced to leave double posts as is in the future, at least as evidence they occur, so programmes can try to sort it out.

Ha ha Boss Man - I thought you meant you deleted original post instead of the double post - it almost gave me a heart attack because I thought you meant you deleteld post about the race, and that one took forever because I did it on phone

OK, I finally got some photos uploaded. Lynne, I couldn't find the Location line in the box so I wasn't sure what to copy to put in the post. So you can look at the pics in profile! The picture of the slide doesn't even come close to what it was actually like - it looks so tiny in the picture!!!! I also uploaded a picture that I took of myself the day before the race - the ones at the race are so bad I wanted to show what I actually look like

I'm glad you enjoyed yourself; you deserved it.

You look beautiful by the way and it makes me happy to see you smiling and looking positive about things. You've had a few challenges in the past few years, but you've never given up on yourself and i'm proud of you and I hope these moments of positivty can grow into a more fulfilling life, where you get the body and the health you deserve :).

Keep on pushing Jocelyn because you ARE worth it.
