I always recommend High intensity exercise for losing weight (interval training). You can burn a whole lot of calories in a lot less time, because even the avid gym-junkie has 'better things to do'...In essence, it's the 'fastest way to Burn fat'.

If you like the long, drawn-out stuff, you can always include a mix of low-intensity, endurance training with high-intensity.

Some resistance exercise is important in losing weight as well; but try and stick to the compound exercises (there's nothing worse than seeing someone with weight loss goals doing a whole lot of bicep curls :)
