ilurvebroccoli,
I certainly respect your opinion. That being said, I am guilty as charged. I had a breast augmentation a few years back and I don't regret the decision. It was a very personal decision between husband and I. For the record, husband loves me no matter how I look. After breast feeding 2 children and also living almost 35 years with one breast larger than the other, I found it very frustrating to feel good in the clothes I bought not to mention, bras never, ever fit right. Having elective surgery is a very serious decision and the risks involved are many. I took those risks and that is the chance you take with any elective surgery. Will I ever get anything else done? I don't think so, but you can never say never when life can change in the blink of an eye. Before making decision, ( which took years by the way) I never thought I wasn't "good enough", or that I didn't appreciate how God "chose to make me". I'm not going to get into a religious debate either because that's not what this forum is about. Let's just say I have a great relationship with maker and I don't feel he's gonna "make me pay" for choice when I meet him.
There is a mom I know who topped off the scales at over 300 pounds a few years back. I just ran into her in the gym last week and honest to God, did not recognize her. She is now down to 146 pounds and looks out of this world fantastic! She shared her story with me and also let me know she had plastic surgery to remove all the excess skin left behind after her weight loss. She knew the consequences, took them and her confidence is so breathtaking now that I applaud her. She is a wonderful inspiration to me.
Another example, is a patient of mine who at age 18 was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had one breast removed and then augmented both sides after her radiation and chemotherapy. She was so young to be diagnosed and though she knew her breast size was not what defined her as a woman, she chose to get plastic surgery anyway. She will never experience pregnancy, never know what it's like to carry a child, or deliver a baby. But she walks with her held held high knowing she beat some very tough odds and is now happily married. Currently, she is an avid spokesperson encouraging women to get their yearly mammograms and do their monthly self breast examinations.
You see, there are many reasons why people choose elective surgeries and their choice to have it is just that, a choice. If there is anything I have learned in 41 years on this earth, it's that I will not judge someone for a decision that is very personal, very theirs, and very their right. I wish you good health, and I applaud your confidence and will always wish you the best.

Well hopefully nothing I say here, will be taken in a bad light, but one thing I don't really think is necessary, is some of the people in the fitness industry getting ones that are too big. I've known of people who have competed before with implants, and don't have large ones, which I think is okay, but when you some some female bodybuilders with massive ones, you wonder why necessarily.
I read about one once saying she had it done, as every time she competed at really low fat levels, the mammary Fat came back unevenly. I just thought it sounded like an excuse to have unnecessary surgery, or jump on a bandwagon. I mean if it wasn't like that before, why would it come back like that after every comp? It just didn't seem logical to me.
I recently saw photos of someone as well, wearing ghastly hooker heels, and just doing a pretty iffy photo shoot on a site, and in one picture they had no bikini top on, and was partially obscuring their huge implants with the back of a chair. One of those well they think it's acceptable providing you can't see the Areola. Like ehh??
Some even wear really thin lycra type tops, that cover that nipple area only, as if, like I say, the no nipple thing makes it okay. Don't get that logic of that.
I felt sorry for the person, because they could have been a good rolemodel for younger females to look up to, but I could never have said that person was someone, who should be called that, as their image looked all wrong.
It just smacked of, well some people will never like beefy biology, and will be rude about it, so why should I have a good image, when it won't make any difference?
Either that or they think, I don't care what anyone thinks of looks, so they basically don't care about how they portray themselves at all. It looks like someone selling their self respect and dignity down the river, for a few hundred dollars.
I actually would say that someone like Boopster, will never get a critical word from me. I don't mind the fact she's had augmentation, as it's not something that I feel has hurt her image, and the avatar picture shows they're a tastefully done, sensible sized implants.
She will always have srespect and admiration for her weight loss, and competitive achievements, and she has always behaved like the perfect Lady, and in mind she is a rolemodel and an inspiration.
Quite a few in the industry are, but some you can see on places like Amg-lite and one or two other places, and you just think, I hope some young females don't perceive those with a tackier image, as the alternative to stick thin, because it could push them the wrong way to a very bad health scenario.

Good point through. It's unfortunately in some industries a dog eat dog world. So called perfection is everything, and for some, looking good is not enough, and never will be. To pay thousands of $$$ or £££, just for another 1% better improvement, to at least consider yourself equal to many others, is ludicrous.
It's like having Botox. I mean Toxins in your face? Which bit of the word Toxins do people not understand? Yes I admit there are medical applications, but that's the only acceptable time.

Although I've never had the need for implants, I'd still have to say that they should wait until they're 21.
Every surgery comes with the risks and not just small ones, life and death ones.
Every girl needs to know that the breasts they have at 15 may not look the same or even be the same size when they are 21. They should wait until they are fully mature to make such an important decision.
Thank goodness I only have boys so I don't have to worry about these issues!
