Little update is due I guess

I'll try to make it brief:

No change in weight still maintaining current weight.
Plantar fasciitis is alot better but still there. I've been running about twice a week, no more than 4 miles at a time.
Ran a 5k last weekend - didn't place in age group but had fun anyway.
Been riding alot on bike. Training for an upcoming bike race in january - 50 miles.
Getting stronger on the bike. Have brought average mile time down by 15 seconds. :D
May have a chance to get a new bike! It is a Specialized Roubalix - from what I've read a very good bike. The one I would be getting is used, about 3 yrs. old. It would be Christmas present.

Eating is as always a continuing effort to stay on the right track, make good decisions. This time of year I tend to ease up a bit and indulge in a few more Holiday treats, try to go by the 80/20 rule. Except for Christmas at mom's house....more like 50/50 on that day. She makes the best 7 layer bars on the planet. I only get them once a year.

Missing dad this week - can't believe it's been 2 yrs. Hope I can continue to make him proud and carry on to son what he gave to me.

Hope all Shapefit peeps are doing well and working hard! :D :D

When you say didn't place, do you meam you didn't finissh the race, or the coordinators had no idea where you came out of X number of people?

As for not letting your father down, there is NO way you would let him down and NO way you would let your son down on purpose. You are human, but that is one of the best things about you Lynne :).

Your father has been given the chance to live on, through your words, actions and deeds and as far as I can see, you have spent the last two years giving him a great second life and doing things, I am convinced he would have been very proud of.

So as far as I'm concerned, I don't think you should have any reason to worry about letting him down, because I don't think you are doing.

You are probably being as good a daughter now, as I think you would have been to him when he was still around and you can't ask more of yourself on that score I don't think. You're already doing so much to be a rolemodel to your Son and to be a beautiful person to others.

Be proud of yourself Lynne. I'm proud of you misses. You're a terrific Lady and you're salt of the earth and your Father may have passed, but you will have given him pride no doubt, in his final months, that your Son is turning out like he is, because it proves your father didn't waste his time with you, if you can raise a good Son and you CAN do that and you ARE doing that.

WELL DONE on your recent races and for never giving up on yourself about weight and about yourself generally and WELL DONE for being a terrific Mother, person and daughter.

I'm sending you a BIG HUG and letting you know I'm always here for you okay :).

You might not be perfect, but you're pretty darn amazing and the world would be poorer, uglier and more monochrome without you and dat's true dat is, word up homie :).

Not placing means I didn't finish in the top three of age group, so I didn't get a medal. I was 7th in age group of women 50-59. :)

I'm a much better daughter now than I was in mid 20's and 30's and I'm glad he lived to see me get life straightened out and into a safe and happy relationship and most of all to share son with him. He and son were two peas in a pod. 8)

yes it is cold at times. Especially with any wind blowing. On days that it is in the 30's I wear a long sports bra, then a long sleeve tech shirt over that, then a sleeveless bike tech shirt over that. I wear long running tights with bike shorts on over them and I wear two pairs of socks, ear band, gloves and fingerless riding gloves over them. whew! it's a workout just getting dressed!

It is hot this morning tho', I ran a 5k race this morning and ran the slowest time I have all year. Just didn't have heart in it. Couldn't breath is was so humid, i was sweating buckets. Every run isn't always gonna be all guts and glory. Today's was mostly guts but with no glory - no age group medal, I registered for the race too late so I didn't even get a shirt!

Got some new running shoes and foot has not been hurting as bad, so that's good news. :)

Time to refocus. No running races for a while. Will be working hard towards the bike race. Trying to get in really good shape.

LOL good for you for doing that. i would totally let that kind of weather stop me from biking. Maybe you are meant for Minnnesota weather.

Me too Jocelyn. :D I think it looks kinda cool under our profile pics.

Well, I've really been kinda flying under the radar for a while. I knew these month (and especially this week) would be hard on me. I'm not gonna make a big deal about it, or go into too much detail, but I think, for me, that when the anniversary of dad's passing comes around I liken it to (forgive the poor analogy) when you have an app running in the background on your phone. You're not really aware of it, might forget about it for a while, but it steadily runs your battery down, you feel tired, sad, unmotivated and can't figure out why. Then your conscious minds remembers what your subconscious minds never forgets that you've lost someone that meant the world to you, and the world just isn't quite the same without them here. :(
So.....while I am a bit off normal upbeat, physically driven, goal setting self this week - don't worry. fitness is always on mind, and I know when I'm "on" and I know when I'm "off" and I allow for both in life because I also know that we can't all be perfect 24 hrs. a day every day. Life happens and we react to it in our own personal ways.

I do plan to start logging meals again and workouts, just not right now. Not that I'm eating out of control - I'm not. But I'm not on any type of scheduled planned out regimented eating plan. Just kinda winging it. Trying to stay on top of it.

I will say that overall fitness level is good. I feel strong. I am in good health.
I really love the bike training that I'm doing. Something so freeing about riding miles on miles with nothing but your own body to propel you, wind blowing on your face, seeing things you've never noticed while driving a car. It is physically demanding but without the poundage that running takes on your legs.

Meeting with some friends for a 20 mile ride after work. Temps will be in the high forties with a 10-15 mph north wind.....brrrrr :D

Don't worry about anything Lynne, we understand you're human, you're not perfect and what you have experienced in recent years, will sometimes affect how you act and feel.

You're a wonderful person and in the end, it's okay and we don't mind :).

You've done superbly well to progress with your goals like you have and you ARE capable of making these things happen and you ARE worth it, so no worries, chin up be strong, best wishes and GOOD LUCK.

I'm proud of you and I'm sure your father would have been proud of you, for being a wonderful Mother and human being.

It certainly is getting cold this time of year, but somehow we muddle on through regardless :P

Thank you Bossman so much, it means alot.

Only rode 11 miles on Tuesday evening, it was cold! Took a while to thaw out after that. 8)
Wednesday evening I ran 3.5 miles with some of running buddies. It was again, cold, but I like to run in the cold.

Going to a Christmas party tonight of our local bike club. I joined their group a few weeks ago and will be meeting alot of them for the first time. I'm nervous!
