Ok, today I looked at naked self in the mirror (daylight) and . Ok, I know I should be positive & don't get discouraged, but I can't help feeling disappointed. I work very hard. I like working out. Confession: sometimes I don't, but I still do. Somehow, I feel like I'm NOT doing something right...like I'm missing something. Because the hard work isn't showing on . There is less fat, but is not as flat as I want to. Correction: Is not flat. I think I need to be more strict in program. Maybe change meals (instead of 6 eat 5 times) or maybe is the workouts. I'm using 5lbs weights (each). What should I do? I'm so confused. I think I'm just stuck . Today (Sunday), I decided to make it a "Cardio" day. I started the day with a 3 mile walk (beautiful day). After all the cleaning I had to do, did Tae bo video & I just finished the 30 day shred. I feel exhausted. So, I had a nice protein shake. Still, I feel like I'm not doing enough. It happens when I work out abs. I don't feel the "burn" anymore. Honestly, don't know what to do. I'm lost... Anyways, it was a good day :D.
Breakfast: 1 cup of Cream of wheat
Workout: walked 3 miles
Protein shake
Lunch: stir fry veggies w/ grilled chicken & 5 strawberries & 1 cup of water
Workout: Tae bo video
Snack: 2 teaspoon peanut butter w/ 6 grapes & 1 cup of water
Dinner: 1 cup of wheat pasta w/ veggies & salmon & 1 bottle of water
Workout: 30 day shred video
Snack: protein shake
friend (the one who had the lipo) called me & invited me over. Maybe it's a sign. Maybe I just need a little motivation. Well, I hope it works, because I'm getting a little frustrated. Maybe I'm just stressed out....who knows? Oh well, enough with the pitty. I need to get back on the horse & shape up or goal won't be met. DON'T WANT THAT...for sure! :D

I'm not going to rake over old coals so to speak, but it might simply be down to what I mentioned to you the other day.

You're eating little snacks, with potentially only 1/3-1/2 of the calories, you could be getting in tose meals, and a few more calories in those meals, could be enough to give you more sacrificial intake, or allow the body to sacricice more body fat.

Certainly at this point, never make multiple changes, as you might do something detrimental, and multiple changes in a lifestyle routine, can't isolate a cause, at best they correct a problem, then cause you to do stuff, that might not cause a problem, but wasn't necessary, e.g. removing some beneficial nutrition, so you get an adequate amount of some things, where you were getting a more beneficial amount, so therefoe less benefit, but not enough to promote issues, whilst promoting correction of your issue.

Worst case scenario, multiple changes do more harm than good, so you might change something that is the cause of your issue, but create undesirable alternatives instead, leading to alternative issues, on the back of correcting another one.

One change and one only, will identify within 2-3 weeks if you've hit the nail on the head and if not, reverse that change and seek to make a different one.

Should that change result in only partial reversal of a problem, THEN keep that change and use the same methodology to isolate remaining factors.

To me that snack thing right now looks like the obvious one. Not necessarily the right or only cause, but obvious to me personally right now.

Hopefully I explained points adequately.

You're doing brilliantly, so don't start getting down on yourself okay. Big smiles, strong confident approach and keep pushing :).

That, I do things even when I don't feel ike it, admission, is brilliant. You can be so proud of feeling like that. It shows what a strong person inside you're becoming and it wil be a significant reason why you can and I think WILL succeed.

Boss...Ok. won't do so many changes. Will start with the snacks. Thanks for the push. NEED IT.
Today, monday, I decided to start the week with upper body workout. It was rainy, cold & dark...perfect day to stay home. But I didn't. Had a good workout. In the evening, I went to friend's house. I thought she invited me over to talk, but I was shocked when she asked me to go with her to the gym   . Mrs. "perfect body" doesn't like exercising. The only exercising I've seen her do since I met her is shopping . I almost fell out of the chair. Not good, since I'm doing lower body tomorrow . Anyways, I went with her to a local gym for a visit. She didn't like it. Honestly, me neither. For starters, first impression was bad. The receptionist & her "possible" personal trainer were out of shape. How can he teach her how to get in shape when he's not? Next, they gave us a tour of the place. friend "Latin Barbie" ( nickname for her...she likes it :D) told them she was interested in toning her upper & lower body. The girl took her to the "weight" area, showed her the weights & said: "Just do 3-20 reps & you'll be fine". She turned to me & asked me if she just spoke chineese to her . After I explained to her (3 sets of 20 reps), the girl took us to the "machines" area. Everytime we asked her what it was for, she tried to figure it out . I told friend I had to go & we left. On our way to house, she confessed she wasn't interested in the gym, she just wanted to show off her body to one of the members she doesn't like (they work together). Hello, DON'T WASTE TIME! I was soooo MAD I wanted to slap her. NOT! I wanted to punch her, but I'm not a violent person :D . She apologized, but I thought it was very childish. When I got home, I was mad, sad & frustrated. She doesn't know about "journey", but she is aware of what I want. Oh well, I channeled of anger at HIIT jumping session & it worked! Did 500 jump & now I feel much better :D. day:
Breakfast: specialty omelette w/ whole wheat toast & 1/2 protein shake
Workout: upper body workout video w/ Jackie
After workout: 1/2 protein shake
Lunch: Grilled chicken fajita w/ veggies & chef salad & 1 bottle of water
Walked 2 miles
Dinner: HIIT jumping (500)
Snack: 1/2 banana split protein shake
Well, tomorrow is a new day. I decided to cut Jillian Michael's body out of a magazine (in a 2 piece bikini) and taped it to refrigerator. It has her body & head. Is weird, crazy, I shouldn't...but It looks GOOD (I look hot in her body ) & it is great motivation for me :D (Poor Jillian...if she knew )

Maybe she was confused when she said 3-20 reps. Maybe she meant 3-30 Sugar Molecules. The lopsided advice being only to eat Oligosaccharides as a Carb source. Those with 3-20 molecules, (the complex sort), but obviously being lopsided advice, it came out wrong

As for the snack thing I mentioned, I was referring to the sort of things where you just eat a few Grapes and a bit of Peanut residue :P.

Though the protein shakes would be a place to start, as you only need those post-workout, maybe half a scoop with Breakfast, to bolster up Protein intake and maybe one at night for anti-catabolic reasons.

I'm glad you decided to alter those, as it really could make a difference and you deserve to succeed at what you're doing, because you're giving so much and being so positive, dedicated and steadfast and you can be proud of yourself :)

brentyboy...Great idea! will do, but I have a better one for now. I did WEIGH IN today & guess what? I'm 128 lbs :D. I'm so excited!!!! I was so happy I did extra cardio this morning .
Boss...  That's funny. As for the 1/2 scoop of protein for breakfast...like that idea. I think I was doing it all wrong. Question: Do I drink a protein shake only after weights or can I have it after cardio too?

As I mention before, I was so happy about "new" weight, I went "workout crazy". I know I shouldn't over work, but I felt very pumped & about to bounce of the walls of happiness. Did lower body, abs & HIIT jumping. Jumped so high that I almost knocked the roof off...Just kidding . Afterwards, had breakfast & out to conquer the weather . In the evening, I got on the scale again (scared those digits were just a dream) but, there they were again :D. After dinner, kids wanted to play soccer in the living room . Are they out of their mind? Whose bright idea? hubby . Finally, we made a few re-arrangements & used a smaller/softer ball & we all played for 1 hour. It was exhausting & painful! They are rough, fast & they cheat . oldest & I lost. I came out with bruises, bites & almost a broken toe (Were we doing the right sport?). Can't tell, but it left me with a blue & swollen toe  :( . Oh well, What the Heck! It was FUN. Afterwards, they wanted to do Hula Hoops. Honestly, I think they just wanted to punish me for eating the leftover coconut pudding . toe was burning, but I did it anyway. Hey! I enjoy beating them. Their sad/shock faces...priceless  . Ok, enough about crazy night. schedule was as follows:
Breakfast: 1 cup Cream of wheat
Workout: Lower body, abs & HIIt jumping
1/2 banana
Lunch: Whole wheat pasta w/ salmon & veggies, side salad & 1 bottle of water
Snack: 1/4 mixed nuts, 8 grapes & small piece of low fat cheddar cheese & 1 cup of water
Dinner: 1/2 cup brown rice, 3 oz grilled steak w/ veggies & chef salad & 1 bottle of water
Workout: Oh well, you know what I did....Painful. Tomorrow, I have decided to challenge myself and run for 15 minutes. Let's pray I don't pass out . Can't do...December is here .

Yes you should still do it after Cardio, as any Carbs can be used to help promote Glycogen recovery, providing they are Complex Carbs.

Boss...Thanks for telling me. If it was for me, I'll be having a protein shake for every meal. Including snacks. Love banana split shake, strawberry shake...Delicioso. Ok, let me stop drooling.
Nokie... Thanks girl! It's a struggle but working hard. Specially not that it's cold, December/ (Latin style holiday receipes...fatening & YUMMY) & lots of time indoors. Therefore, temptation is everywhere. But, working hard.

Friday 4th.
Ok, I haven't written on journal due to a little emergency & had on Tuesday night (not the toe ). I had to stay in the hospital. I just needed a mini vacation . Thank God I'm back home. Love to be Home. Anyways, I haven't been able to workout since then, but planning to get back on the "horse" today. No heavy exercise, just walk...strongly recommended. But will start with the normal workouts on Monday. What I'll start today for sure is some good eating...YUMM. I'm not complaining about hospital food (healthy & good), but mine is much better :D. Confession: I had chocolate ice cream & Kozy shack rice pudding during stay...double YUMMY! I think they love me. Or, I have earned enough frequent visit miles for those great treats. Thinking about it, I think I have enough miles to get me a nice car . I should redeem them & get me dream car...a Rav 4. Small, golden, beige interiors, nice sound system, navigation system & a sunroof! Ok, enough with the day dreaming & back to reality . Have to get back on the exercise program ASAP! 1st due date is around the corner (18th). Ok, let me breath...I think I'm about to pass out . second "goal due date" is the 24th. I'll be wearing hubby's Christmas gift  . Need to be Fabulous, Fun & FLIRTY! So, don't have much time. Will be posting new picture soon. Not sure when. Should I take them & post on the 18th (family reunion), 24th (being naughty or the hubby) or on the 31st (end of goal)? What do you think? NOTE: Won't be posting the "Me as a christmas gift" pictures . Just regular transformation ones. Remeber, this "new body goal" ends on December 31st. But transformation journey will continue...under a new title & goal :D Sorry for the silliness, I'm still under heavy medication .

Saturday,
Feeling great. Decided to do cardio. Since it was cold & rainy, did the workout indoors. Was sweating like a pig. Did a 2 mile "walk" which included side steps, knee lifts, kickbacks, front kicks & a 2 minute jog. I also did the HIIT jumping & 25 min kick boxing video. I kicked own butt (literally). Drank 1 1/2 bottles of water. Either it was very hot in house or I'm pre-menopausing . After all the jump, running & kicking, I went out to do a little fruit & veggie shopping. Got some grapes, strawberries, blueberries, tamarind, guava, avocado, mushrooms, zucchini & bananas. Later, hubby came home with a little gift for us: a WII fit plus . Where did he get the idea? Not a video games fan (unless it has something to do with soccer). Anyways, kids connected the board & the rest is history. We played for 3 hours. Ok, I played for 3 hours, they stayed a little longer. It's amazing. After you enter your birthday, height & weight goal, It gives you your current weight, BMI & according to some balance & other test, it gives you an estimate of your "WII fit age". Mine was 30 :D :D . After it gives you your "WII fit age" it ask for your weight & time goals (if not realistic, it will tell you & why). Then, makes you choose your trainer & it will tell you how long per day to train. It's Awesome. The exercises are fun, kinda hard & everytime you complete one, it gives you time spent, calories burned & % of the goal for the day was met. I worked on abs/tummy workouts, strenght & yoga . First time in life! Liked it! Found out I'm very unbalanced . Will do it again tomorrow. What shocked me the most: youngest son (who hates running) ran for 10 minutes & loved it  . Hey, love anything that makes him workout while having fun. schedule went like this:
Breakfast: Omelette specialty w/ whole wheat toast, 1 cup of coffee w/ skim milk & sweet & low & 1/2 banana
Workout: Cardio, Cardio, Cardio
Protein shake
Lunch: 3 oz grilled chicken (cut in pieces) fajita w/ veggies, small side salad w/ avocado & 1/2 apple w/ 1 bottle of water
Dinner: 3 oz grilled fish w/ veggies (broccoli, zucchini, carrots, green beans, red peppers, mushrooms & onions) & chef salad & 1 bottle of water
Workout: Played 3 hours in WII fit (had a great workout. abs were burning) LIKE IT!
protein shake
Tomorrow: Day off (but will be doing some walking & cleaning)
Starting the countdown. 13 days to 1st goal date & 19 days to Christmas . Can I do it? Stay Tuned....

12 days to 1st goal & 18 days to 2nd goal
Sunday,
Today was day off. NOT! Started the day by going to the store (few blocks away). Then, cleaning, washing clothes & cooking. Afterwards, plans were to sit down, watch a movie (G.I. Joe) & relax. Impossible at house when testosterone levels are high :(. So, there is no relaxing. In a blink of an eye I went from laying down on our sofa (taking a well deserve break) to Hula Hooping on the WII Fit . Honestly, I didn't want to do it, but I'm very competitive & they always trick me into doing things . I got caught up in the games, calorie bank (adds up calories per game) & who beats whom, by the time I realized It was "day off", I had already played for 2 hours. 410 calories (YIPPY!) An get this....I ran for 10 minutes without huffing & puffing . Triple shocker, youngest son (hates running) ran 10 minutes yesterday & 20 minutes today   . How about that! Unbelievable. It's truly a miracle. Guess what? He said he was going to try & break his record and run for 25 minutes. OMG! Is this the end of the world? What's happening to him? Oh Well, I LOOOVE IT! It's amazing what a little game can do. Me, I'm going for 15 minutes. Let's hope little toe doesn't get worst in the process . The swelling is down. It's still a little blue. In all, day was pretty busy, silly & competitive. It went like this:
Breakfast: Oatmeal w/ egg white & banana & 1 cup of coffee w/ skim milk & 1 sweet & low
Clean
Lunch: Whole wheat pasta w/ veggies & salmon, side salad, 1/4 cup of grapes & 1 bottle of water
Snack: handful of almonds w/ 1 cup of strawberries
Dinner: 1 cup of brown rice w/ grilled chicken w/ veggies & side salad & 1 bottle of water
Workout: PLayed WII for 2 hours (Hula Hoop, boxing, Skiing, Flying, balance, running, snow ball fighting, etc.) WOW! Still sweating. Drank 1 cup of water
Protein shake
Tomorrow evening: start looking for the "perfect dress" to buy & wear for the family reunion. Also, help with science project & I doing some running. Excited to do it & with son aboard. Together, shaping up for the holidays .

Hi Les! Toe is better. Liking the odd color  . Looove the Plus. Amazing invention. How's wiggles?

Monday (11 days to 1st goal & 17 to 2nd goal),
This morning I worked lower body with weights (YES!) I was happy to get back to normal schedule. Didn't walk today (too cold). But as soon as I picked up son from school, he reminded me about our "running challenge". I was very nervous. Don't like to look like a whimp infront of kids. But, there was no turning back. So, I suggested we do some Yoga & aerobics first, thinking he might forget. But NO, he did Yoga, aerobics, few games & yes, running. But let me tell you what happened first. We started with Yoga. Not good at it. balance is way off. I thought I was pretty balanced but I was wrong. balance point was all over the place . However, son has been great at everything. Maybe is the age. How lucky! The aerobics was a piece of low fat cake . Not that lucky, run was a disaster. Tried to do 20 minutes but couldn't finish. Working on that. goal: to do 20 without fainting by Friday . Ithink I can, I think I can, I think I can :?: Positive! Had a great time & they had a great laugh at me skateboarding. Confession: I SUCK! But it was fun :D. Well, have to go. son has a test tomorrow.
Breakfast: Cream of wheat & 1/2 banana
Workout: Lower body
Protein shake w/ 1/2 banana
Lunch: Can of tuna w/ litght tuna, 1 toast & chef salad & 1 bottle of water
Snack: string cheese w/ 1 small apple
Dinner: 1 cup brown rice w/ stir fry veggies & 1 slice of turkey spam (grilled) & side salad & 1 bottle of water
Workout: WII Fit Yoga (6 positions x 3 tries) steps, hula hoop -did 400 rounds (abs burning) & 18 min run.
Protein shake. Was still thirsty, so drank 2 cups of water
Got a new exercise video from a friend. Title: Chair dance by Flirty Girl Fitness. Had a sneak peek. I'm going to try it  . I think it will go AMAZINGLY with "Christmas gift". hubby is going to have a heart attack . Oh NO! Not a heart attack...a "high blood pressure moment" . Much better. Want a have a very Merry Christmas  :D  .

Les...  I want one too! Too bad I don't have room for it. But like in the video, a chair works perfectly fine and that I have .
Tuesday, (10 days to 1st goal & 16 days to 2nd goal),
Is it me or is time flying? OMG. Honestly, I'm freaking out. Even this morning, I looked at myself in the mirror & thought I looked wide :(. I think mind is playing tricks on me. Some days waist looks small & some days wide. Why?? What else can I do to reach desired weight? I'm stuck. Don't know what to do. Let me breath. I'm about to start crying because I've been working hard....Deep breath.....OK, enough with the pitty! Will sleep on it & try to figure this thing out.
Today, very, very, very busy. It was freeeezing. But I bundled up & went for a quick walk. About 2 miles. At around 7, son wanted to do WII fit again, but told him we could an hour later. I needed to get upper body workout done. Afterwards, you guessed it. Hula hooping ( favorite), Yoga (new poses-suck at them ) & bird flying (arm & core workout). I also did running...again . son is killing me (will not complain cause I want him to continue). I ran for 15 min :D (I know...still have until Friday) & son: 23 minutes . What am I feeding him? Is it the protein? He wanted to have a little bit on his shake last night so I gave him just a little (1 tablespoon). I guess that made him think he was stronger?? Don't know, but it's working. Tonight, I gave him 1/4 scoop (5g) & he felt like a grown man . You should've seen his big smile. Then, he showed me his "guns" (biceps). Confession: I think his biceps are staring to look toned. He's been doing the pushups & planks on the Fit plus (3 - 4times to beat his own record). Love it! Anyways, he's pushing me & punishing me . But it's making me work harder on running. Will see what happens on Friday. schedule went like this:
Walked 2 miles in the freezing weather.
Breakfast: 1/2 cup of coffee w/ skim milk & scoop of protein, 2 whole wheat toast w/ 1 boiled egg white
Lunch: Stir fry veggies w/ turkey spam, side salad w/ avocado & 1 bottle of water
Snack: 4 strawberries w/ 1/4 low fat cottage cheese & 1 cup of water
Dinner: 1 cup of brown rice w/ grilled salmon & steamed veggies & side salad & 1 bottle of water
Workout: upper body & Wii fit
strawberry Protein shake
Will do the chair dance flirty video tonight. Waiting for everyone to go to bed. Don't want witnesses  . And don't want hubby to see either. It'll ruin surprise  :D .

Waist appearance could alter because of light conditions, or the type of clothes.

If you're going to wear something with another 1/2 of give in them, then you'll notice that as opposed to something that's a snug fit.

Could even be some colours give the illusion more than others.

The main thing is not to get so hung up about it and don't you dare to cry, not afer all this hard work, because you are doing brilliantly and you can be so proud of yourself.

The main thing is what matters here is

A: How things fit.

B: How much you lift in the gym.

Don't get hung up on little things for no good reason, as you'll just self sabotage and you don't need or deserve that to happen.

Be patient and understnading with yourself okay. You've been through some really tough stuff in life, so don't get flaky over little things, becasue you're WAY too good for that and you know it.

Good luck yeah :).

Les... Send those tickets over to son. He will enjoy it & participate too. He's been practicing every morning. By the way. who's the Monster? Hope you don't mind me asking.
Boss... As always, lifting spirit. I won't cry, I promise. It's just the frustration & the anxiety to know that goal dates are getting closer and the image I had in mind of ideal "body" is not as close as I hoped for. But, I have decided to get off the pity wagon, move forward & keep working hard. I'm just a little impatient. But, I'm working on it. This morning was feeling more upbeat. I did cardio in the morning & weights at night. Of course, did some fit plus with "pitufo" (smurf). That kid is going to drive me insane. He wanted to do ALL the Yoga poses . There are 100's (Ok, exgerating) but lots! He repeats each three times. I put foot down & he stopped..with yoga and onto aerobics. I was exhausted. I did upper, lower & abs & 12 min running before all that. I think he's an alien. No, maybe the new & improved energizer bunny . I love him to death, but enough is enough  . OOPPS! Fire Alarm went off, have to go. Will continue after show is over .

Hi, newmami!!! Well, I read just about all of your thread and I must say I am very impressed! Where to begin.....first off overcoming your health problems and staying strong through it all is amazing! Being unselfish, not giving in to self-pity and staying strong for your family is amazingly heroic. I love your sense of humor and devotion!!! You have so much to offer yourself and your adoring family. Sometimes we all slip up and I love how you slip but get right back on the wagon again. I know how hard it is to take care of a family and satisfy your needs as well. What you are doing is very healthy physically and emotionally so keep it up! Just don't get too fixated on timelines. It takes a very long time to obtain your goal. I know this because goal is quite the same. I started in May and thought I would be rockin a new bod by the end of summer. Not so. Is 6 months later and only now upper abs are just vaguely peeking out. The lower is the LAST to go!!! You already have the dedication now just give it the time! :) If you don't have your desired look by X-mas just stretch it out for maybe sometime in Summer. Seems a long ways off but really is not! You already have the determination now just give it the time! You can so do this! By the way....I am from Jersey also and us Jersey girls ROCK!!!!
