Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I grew up outside of Dayton, Ohio. I have an Accounting Degree.
How and why did you get started in fitness?
I have always been active. After having children, I found my way into the gym where I immediately became addicted.
What is the best thing about being fit and living a healthy lifestyle?
I have more energy, I’m very active and I just physically feel better overall.
Tell us about your biggest fitness influence?
I used to read magazines and articles and fell in love with Monica Brandt.
What is your greatest achievement so far?
Just getting on stage was a challenge for me and it really took me outside of my comfort zone. No matter how I placed, I worked hard and was proud to share the stage with other amazing women.
What is your favorite body part on yourself and on the opposite sex?
My favorite body part would be abs. I like working them hard and then dieting to where they really come through is very satisfying. For the opposite sex, I would probably say chest.
What kind of cardio do you like best and why?
I enjoy jogging and running, especially outdoors.
What type of nutritional supplements do you use?
BCAAs (Branched Chain Amino Acids), glutamine and multivitamins.
What do you think of the latest fitness trends like P90X, Insanity and CrossFit?
I think they are great, although I do not have a lot of experience with them. It’s always good to have variety with your workouts and change things up.
What type of food or supplements do you consume pre-workout and post-workout?
I have a pre-workout drink with BCAAs and my post-workout drink is a protein shake.
How do you deal with cravings for junk foods, sweets and salty food?
I do not have junk food or cheat foods easily available which is a big help for avoiding them. I simply do not keep them in the house. I also avoid areas where cravings might occur like going to the movies or hanging out in the kitchen.
What are the contents of your refrigerator?
Eggs (lots of eggs), chicken, fruits, veggies, yogurt, vitamin water.
What are your top 3 favorite exercises and why?
I really like squats, bench press and hanging leg raises.
What tips do you recommend for eating out at restaurants to stay on a clean diet?
I usually bring my own food with me or make special requests when I’m at a restaurant. Some examples are having a plain chicken breast with no seasoning with plain broccoli or green beans with no butter or oil.
What does your gym playlist look like and what’s your favorite song to listen to when training?
I enjoy listening to a lot of 80s rock music.
What is the most challenging thing you deal with about consistently staying in top shape?
My diet can be challenging at times especially during the holidays and special events.
Please describe your normal diet. What do you eat in a typical day to stay in shape?
- Meal #1: Egg whites, oatmeal.
- Meal #2: Protein shake.
- Meal #3: Chicken, brown rice, green beans.
- Meal #4: Lean beef or ground chicken, sweet potato, veggies.
- Meal #5: Egg whites or a protein shake.
If you could share only one fitness tip that has really helped you succeed, what would it be?
Be patient! Results are not immediate. Stick with it and remember that progress takes time, but you will eventually see results!
How does your family, friends and significant other react to and deal with your strict fitness lifestyle?
I am lucky to have great support from my family and friends. They know how hard I work and they are always very motivating and encouraging.

- Have a detailed plan.
- Clean up your diet.
- Include weight training.
- Do lots of cardio.
- Stick to your plan and stay focused.
What are your top 5 tips for building muscle and packing on size?
- Create an effective workout plan and stick to it.
- Eat a clean diet with enough calories and protein.
- Lift heavy weights and push yourself hard in the gym.
- Drink lots of water every day to flush your system out.
- Get plenty of rest to help your muscles recover and grow.
- Monday: Shoulders and biceps.
- Tuesday: Back and cardio.
- Wednesday: Chest and triceps, cardio.
- Thursday: Legs.
- Friday: Cardio.
- Saturday: Abs and calves.
- Sunday: Rest!
What is your favorite healthy food and your favorite cheat food?
My favorite healthy food would be oatmeal and my favorite cheat food would be pizza.
How do you stay motivated?
I am motivated by the changes I see in my body. I strive to continuously improve my strength and physique.
What does the future hold for you?
For the future, I want to continue to better myself, improve my physique and compete in more pro figure and physique competitions.
