Can you tell us a little about yourself and your background?
I grew up in Deer Park, Texas and got my B.S. in Kinesiology and minor in Dance from Sam Houston State University. I’m an ACE certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and Pilates instructor.

How and why did you get started in fitness?
I’ve danced my entire life so I always had an athletic build. When I got to college, I had more free time and started working out and met my coach, who convinced me to compete in the bikini competition in the NPC (National Physique Committee). From there my love for fitness grew into teaching, training and wanting to teach others.

What is the best thing about being fit and living a healthy lifestyle?
The best thing about being healthy is getting to educate others. I want to coach bodybuilders, and learning through my own experiences has given me a lot of knowledge.

Tell us about your biggest fitness influence?
My biggest fitness influence would have to be my former bikini competition coach. He was the first person to see potential in me as a competitor and tell me to put myself out there.

What is your greatest achievement so far?
My greatest achievement so far is probably my degree. I never thought it would be such a big deal to me, but that is something that no one can discredit you on or take away from you.

What is your favorite body part on yourself and on the opposite sex?
My favorite body part is the shoulders for both men and women!

What kind of cardio do you like best and why?
I like doing the StairMaster because it burns calories faster, which means less cardio!

What type of nutritional supplements do you use?
The supplements I use include protein powder, pre-workout products, mass gaining supplements, fat burners, a multivitamin and fish oil.

What do you think of the latest fitness trends like P90X, Insanity and CrossFit?
I think as long as people are getting active, that’s great!

What type of food or supplements do you consume pre-workout and post-workout?
My pre-workout supplements include a pre-workout product, a mass gainer and fat burner. My post-workout supplements include some BCAAs (Branched-Chain Amino Acids) and protein powder.

How do you deal with cravings for junk foods, sweets and salty food?
I have a cheat meal once a week so I can always look forward to that if my cravings hit me during the week!

What are the contents of your refrigerator?
I have lots of containers of prepped meals along with some fresh veggies and wine!

What are your top 3 favorite exercises and why?
My favorite exercises are hip thrusters, shoulder press, and lat pulldowns. As a bikini competitor, the judges look for glutes (butt), shoulders, and lats (back).

What tips do you recommend for eating out at restaurants to stay on a clean diet?
Make sure to always eat in moderation and go for steamed or grilled items on the menu.

What does your gym playlist look like and what’s your favorite song to listen to when training?
I don’t really have a favorite song. I just enjoy upbeat music while I workout to keep me going.

What is the most challenging thing you deal with about consistently staying in top shape?
The urge to eat pizza every day!

Please describe your normal diet. What do you eat in a typical day to stay in shape?

  • Meal #1: Eggs, toast, and a smoothie.
  • Meal #2: A protein, veggie, and a carbohydrate.
  • Meal #3: A protein, veggie, and a carbohydrate.
  • Meal #4: A protein, veggie, and a carbohydrate.
  • Meal #5: Eggs and toast.

If you could share only one fitness tip that has really helped you succeed, what would it be?
Your diet is 80% of your success! Always make sure to really focus on the foods you’re eating if you hit a plateau and can’t seem to make any progress. When in doubt, look at your diet first!

How does your family, friends and significant other react to and deal with your strict fitness lifestyle?
My friends and family are very supportive of me.

What are your top 5 tips for losing body fat and getting shredded?

  1. High protein diet.
  2. Low impact cardio.
  3. Consistent diet.
  4. Getting enough water.
  5. Getting enough sleep.

What are your top 5 tips for building muscle and packing on size?

  1. Increase your protein intake.
  2. Eat more nutrient dense carbs.
  3. Eat good sources of healthy fats.
  4. Take mass gaining supplements.
  5. Make sure your diet is consistent.

What is your training routine like?

  • Monday: Legs
  • Tuesday: Shoulders
  • Wednesday: Back
  • Thursday: Arms and Chest
  • Friday: Legs
  • Saturday: Shoulders
  • Sunday: Off day!

What is your favorite healthy food and your favorite cheat food?
My favorite healthy food is tilapia and my favorite cheat food is pizza!

How do you stay motivated?
It’s just my lifestyle and I enjoy it. I don’t have to force myself to be healthy or active.

What does the future hold for you?
Lots of bikini competitions, coaching, and teaching!
