Aaron’s Weight Loss Story!
When did you become unhappy with your weight?
I have struggled with my weight since the second grade. There were so many unhappy moments like when I realized I weighed too much to go horseback riding, or when I could not ride a roller coaster because the seat belt and harness wouldn’t fit.
What made you decide to lose weight?
I got winded rolling down a window in my car. That is when I realized I was going to die if I did not take control of my life. I was 30 years old and I had lost control.
What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
It was totally a mindset change. When I weighed over 300 pounds, I was always on a diet. When I stopped dieting and started changing my lifestyle was when I was successful. I had to realize that I was not on a diet for a couple of months, but that I was going to learn to eat and exercise in a way that I could be successful for the rest of my life.
What was most challenging about losing weight?
It seemed like I would never reach my end goal. I had to learn a lot about myself and had to learn a lot about motivation along my weight loss journey.
How long did it take you to start to see results?
Within a few days of changing my eating habits and working out, I saw the results of my first few pounds lost.
How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
Four and a half years.
How long have you maintained your weight loss and how do you do it?
A little over four years.
How has your life changed now that you’ve lost weight?
I can’t even begin to list all of the ways. For one thing, I am mentally and physically so much healthier. I am also happier and more energetic. I also believe in myself and my abilities so much more.
How did ShapeFit help you reach your weight loss goals?
ShapeFit.com has helped me maintain my weight loss, which for me has been very important. I always say gaining weight is like putting your foot on a gas pedal, and losing weight is like taking your foot off the gas pedal. Both actions take thought and action, but what is difficult is maintaining a constant speed just like maintaining a goal weight.
