Corie’s Weight Loss Story!
When did you become unhappy with your weight?
Since childhood. I have always been obese. Even as a child. In the 5th grade I weighed 252 pounds! I graduated high school weighing over 400 pounds.
What made you decide to lose weight?
This is a true story. I was low on money and decided that I could make a few dollars by donating plasma. I had never done it and I was unfamiliar with the whole process. Long story short, I stayed at the donation center for almost 2 hours, only to find out I was too heavy. The weight limit to donate was 400 pounds and I weighed in at 415 pounds. That’s when I knew! I was too heavy to help save someone else’s life. So it’s time for me to save my own!
What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
I got active! I started walking. Walking became running, and one thing lead to another. Exercising made me more aware of the things I was feeding my body. I didn’t want to waste an hour of hard work by eating a honey bun in two minutes.
What was most challenging about losing weight?
Staying committed and focused. As they say, old habits die hard. That’s why its important to create new and better ones.
How long did it take you to start to see results?
How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
I’m 11 months into my journey and have lost 135 pounds as of today (October 12, 2012).
How long have you maintained your weight loss and how do you do it?
I’m still in the stages of losing so I don’t have a maintenance period as of yet.
How has your life changed now that you’ve lost weight?
I have more energy that I have ever had in my life! Women look at me different and I have seemed to inspire others to take better care of themselves, which is the most important thing.

I lift light weights with high reps, 4 times a week and I only train my upper body. I train my lower body by walking and running.
Walk and run 2 miles, 4-5 days a week.
