Elizabeth’s Weight Loss Story!

When did you become unhappy with your weight?
Ever since I was a teenager, I viewed myself as big. Looking back at pictures, I know I wasn’t. And it’s still something I struggle with. I’ve never been happy with my weight, but I was completely devastated when I gave birth to my second child in May of 2011.

What made you decide to lose weight?
I couldn’t chase my kids around the yard. I couldn’t play with them for more than 10 to 15 minutes without getting winded. I lost the weight for myself and my health, then for them.

What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
The most important changes I made in my lifestyle were cutting out soda, finding alternatives to the fattening food I liked, and making a point to eating fruits and veggies every single day.

What was most challenging about losing weight?
Honestly? Buying new clothes was the most challenging thing about losing weight. I hate shopping.

How long did it take you to start to see results?
I saw results within three weeks of my lifestyle change. My face was thinner when I looked in the mirror. It was awesome.

How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
After losing the first twenty pounds by breastfeeding my baby, I didn’t change my diet right away. When I finally cleaned out my fridge and cabinets, it took seven months to shed 84 pounds.

How long have you maintained your weight loss and how do you do it?
I am still losing, but even with the holidays and the break I took from losing, maintaining my weight wasn’t difficult. I still had treats, I just limited myself to one serving.

What keeps you motivated to continue your weight loss success?
Results. I love seeing the numbers on the scale go down. I love seeing the look on people’s faces when they see me for the first time in a while.

How has your life changed now that you’ve lost weight?
I am happier. I like to fix my hair, wear makeup more and go out and do things. I experience life without that humiliating feeling of self doubt.

Do you have any advice for others who are trying to lose weight?
Yes. When people ask me, I tell them the same thing. It doesn’t take pills, it doesn’t take shakes or meal replacements. It takes eating the RIGHT food so that your body has the proper fuel to burn fat. It takes YOU saying no when you’ve had enough. It takes you eating what is good for you, even if you don’t particularly care for it.

How did ShapeFit help you reach your weight loss goals?
Seeing ShapeFit’s before and after pictures because if they can do it, so can I.
