    Fahri’s Weight Loss Story!

When did you become unhappy with your weight?
I have always been unhappy with my weight, especially after I weighed over 220 pounds.

What made you decide to lose weight?
As a result of my excess weight I had problems with my health. These problems and chronic fatigue sharply affected my professional life. Before gaining excess weight, I was a very active person and never knew what being tired meant. Problems with my health mainly consisted of issues with my stomach, gastrointestinal tract, heart, cardiovascular system, pancreas and liver. High blood pressure and high cholesterol were also common problems.

What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
I knew that the very first thing I needed to do was quit smoking since smoking was negatively affecting my health. Also, physical exercise was impossible if I smoked since I had issues with breathing. I was successful at quitting smoking which helped me tremendously. I also came to understand the truth that nobody but myself can help me. I read a lot of literature about the human body and how different parts of our body operate in order to understand which path to choose. The other very important change that I made was to start keeping track of all my calories in and out.

What was most challenging about losing weight?
The most challenging thing about losing weight and becoming very fit and healthy was changing my self-image from being overweight to being an active person.

How long did it take you to start to see results?
The first month I was able to lose 20 pounds and this inspired me a lot to keep going!

How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
It took me approximately 3-4 months to lose the weight.

How long have you maintained your weight loss and how do you do it?
I have maintained my weight for the last 2 years and the formula I follow is very simple. It consists of proper eating habits, playing sports, leading a physically active lifestyle and positive thinking. I haven’t gained any weight back over the last 2 years!

What keeps you motivated to continue your weight loss success?
My achievements in my professional life and the absence of any problems with my health.

How has your life changed now that you’ve lost weight?
My life changed completely! I became much more positive, more active and for the last 2 years I forgot all about the phrase “I am tired”. I have huge amounts of energy, I use my time more effectively and rationally, and my professional and personal life became more colorful. I feel like my 40’s are the best time in my life, because every passing day and every week makes me younger and younger. All of the problems with my health are gone!

Do you have any advice for others who are trying to lose weight?
My first piece of advice is to just want it. Secondly, you need to get up right now, believe in yourself, believe that you can do it and make the first step! The very first step is the hardest one to take.
