Jonathan’s Weight Loss Story!
When did you become unhappy with your weight?
For most of my adult life I was in the 205 pound range. I was overweight, but not by too much. After starting a new job I gained another 13 pounds in 6 months.
What made you decide to lose weight?
When I realized I was the heaviest I had ever been in my life, and when I saw a photo of myself I realized something had to change.
What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
Diet, diet, diet! For years I had tried to exercise myself to fitness, but it never worked. It wasn’t until I really started dieting that I began to lose weight.
What was most challenging about losing weight?
Starving 🙂 Being hungry all the time (particularly from changing diets frequently) made the weight loss a real drain sometimes.
How long did it take you to start to see results?
I started seeing results within one week, and continued to see consistent results for the first 18-20 weeks before I hit a huge plateau.
How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
How long have you maintained your weight loss and how do you do it?
By continuing to diet I maintained my weight of 178 pounds for another 34 weeks.
How has your life changed now that you’ve lost weight?
I feel a lot better about myself. My self-esteem is improved and my athletic performance is great. I wrote about my experience in an eBook titled 52 Diets, which chronicles my weight loss experience.

Jonathan’s Weight Loss Eating Plan!
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner:
I did a different diet each week. On the Japanese diet I would have some rice and a hard boiled egg for breakfast, chicken and rice for lunch and fish, rice, and a vegetable for dinner. On the Slim-Fast diet I had shakes and meal bars throughout the day and a 800 calorie dinner. On the Jenny Craig diet I ate their prepackaged meals throughout the whole day.
Jonathan’s Weight Loss Workouts!
I lift weights on Mondays and Wednesdays.
I jog or do elliptical on Mondays and Wednesdays after weight training. I attend a 90 minute Aikido class Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. On Saturdays I do a long distance run, or a workout video.
