Justin’s Weight Loss Story!
When did you become unhappy with your weight?
When I was around 11 years old. I continued to struggle throughout high school until the summer after my senior year.
What made you decide to lose weight?
I wanted to be able to live a normal lifestyle, buy clothes anywhere and fit into my car. All the stuff people take for granted.
What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
EXERCISE! I dieted a lot also but mainly I am way more active now. I work almost 60 hours a week and workout 5 days a week.
What was most challenging about losing weight?
It’s all mental. You have to brainwash yourself that you don’t need the food. You have had it before and believe you can do anything. Take small steps at first. I remember when I could barely ride my bike a couple of miles. Now, I can walk like 11.5 miles straight.
How long did it take you to start to see results?
First week I lost 8 pounds. Then it started adding up: 8 pounds, then 13 pounds, then 18 pounds, then 24 pounds and so on. I finally believed it was time.
How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
It took me about a year and a half to reach my current weight.
How long have you maintained your weight loss and how do you do it?
Almost two years. I’m really active and don’t allow myself to get bored. I try not to eat when I’m not hungry and I just stay active.
How has your life changed now that you’ve lost weight?
I have confidence. Unfortunately, like a lot of people fear, I do have loose skin and need surgery. It shouldn’t scare you away because every day I wake up to have 180 pounds off me and it’s an incredible feeling. I can do so many things like fit into my car better, fit on a plane and go to a clothes store to buy a shirt I like without worrying if it comes in 3XL. I can also wear jeans that fit because I can use belts now.
