Kaci’s Weight Loss Story!
When did you become unhappy with your weight?
I’ve always been about 20 pounds overweight but after I had kids, my weight just ballooned. I finally had enough and needed to make a change.
What made you decide to lose weight?
I could feel my body shutting down on me. I was 34 years old and felt like an 80-year-old. My grandma was telling me about her bad knees and I thought, “What will I be like when I’m 80? I’m already like that!”
What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
The most important changes by far were:
- No eating after 7pm.
- No diet soda, which just made me crave other things.
- Walking 3 days a week and strength training 2 days a week.
- Never missing one of my exercise days.
What was most challenging about losing weight?
Sticking to my plan when my schedule changed. As a teacher, I did great during the school year but once summer came, I really had to work to keep from ruining my diet. I was home too much during the day and always wandered to the kitchen. In the end, I learned to keep myself busy doing fun outdoor things with my kids.
How long did it take you to start to see results?
After the first month, I’d lost 26.5 pounds. By the end of the third month, I’d lost 50 pounds. I saw results immediately.
How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
9 months. On the anniversary of the ninth month, I was down 104 pounds.
How long have you maintained your weight loss and how do you do it?
I’m still working to lose 28 more pounds, but I’ve consistently been losing and have been able to maintain when my diet hasn’t been “perfect”.
How has your life changed now that you’ve lost weight?
I feel like I’ve quit waiting around for good things to happen. Now, I realize that I have the power to make my life whatever I want it to be. I get up each morning and I know that I can accomplish anything.

Kaci’s Weight Loss Tips!
Weight Loss Tip #1:
Start with attainable goals.
Weight Loss Tip #2:
Don’t jump right in with all you’ve got at once. Start with a couple of goals, then build up each month.
Weight Loss Tip #3:
Don’t eat after 7pm. Let’s face it, if you’re eating after 7pm, it’s probably not going to be the healthiest food and you’re probably not going to burn it off before bed.
Weight Loss Tip #4:
Surround yourself with positive people. Build a support system. Tell everyone you know about your plan and use them to check in with you and keep you moving.
Weight Loss Tip #5:
Don’t lose weight for anyone but yourself. In the end, if you’re not happy, it won’t matter what anyone else thinks.
Kaci’s Weight Loss Eating Plan!
South Beach bar or protein shake. Some days I’ll do an egg white omelet with salsa.
Salad with turkey or chicken and low-fat dressing. Load up on the veggies.
Fish or chicken and a veggie. Lately, I’ve been eating Lean Cuisine frozen meals because I’m so busy running my kids around in the evenings. Keep it simple!
Snacks or Mini Meals:
Rice cakes, animal crackers when I need something semi-sweet, fruit, Nutella.
Kaci’s Weight Loss Workouts!
Light weights, 3 sets of 10 reps on biceps and triceps. Push ups, squats and pilates for muscle toning and lengthening.
Walking 10 miles, 3 days a week.
