Kaylyn’s Weight Loss Story!

When did you become unhappy with your weight?
Growing up, I was always a little bigger but when I went to college I gained an extra 50 pounds. I became very unhappy with myself last December, 2013.

What made you decide to lose weight?
December, 2013. I looked at myself in the mirror and was so disgusted. Not only does diabetes and heart disease run in my family, but so does breast cancer. I decided that I wanted to live a long and healthy life. In order to do that, I knew I needed to change everything about my lifestyle.


What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
I was always a fast food eater. Cutting it out was a very important change for me. My life is very hectic and I am always on the run. For me, it was a lot more convenient to go through a drive-thru versus cooking at home. So, meal prepping made it a lot easier.

What was most challenging about losing weight?
Forcing myself to go to the gym was hard for me. I hated going but I continued to push myself. After a month it became such a routine that I hated missing a single day. I now love going to the gym. It is the highlight of my day.


How long did it take you to start to see results?
It took me about a month to start seeing results, myself. For others, it took about 2 months before I started getting compliments.

How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
It took me almost a year to get from 325 pounds to 192 pounds.


How long have you maintained your weight loss and how do you do it?
I am still in the process of losing more weight, but I have maintained my weight at 192 pounds. Keeping the weight off can be very hard. Just make sure not to get back into your old ways. Once you start back on that road, it is hard to stop. Just stay focused and keep eating clean. It is all about what you put into your body.

What keeps you motivated to continue your weight loss success?
My best friend Cassie keeps me motivated. She is constantly pushing me to become better. She is very into fitness and her motivation has helped me tremendously.


How has your life changed now that you’ve lost weight?
Yes, it has changed! People are constantly coming up to me and complimenting me. I am so much happier now. I feel so confident about myself. Being able to shop outside of the “plus size” section in clothing stores is just so exciting!

Do you have any advice for others who are trying to lose weight?
Stay positive, stay focused and do not give up. Anything is possible if you keep your mind in the game. Keep working towards the prize of a happier and healthier life. YOU CAN DO IT!

Avoid fast food.

Do not be afraid to lift weights! Cardio isn’t everything.

Drink a TON of water every day.

Kaylyn’s Weight Loss Workouts!

Weight Training:
I focus on training a different body part each day. Abs, legs, biceps, triceps, back, shoulders, etc.

This is something you need to mix up so your body doesn’t get used to the same thing. Any movement helps. I would normally switch between the elliptical, running, and biking. I now do a lot of stairs and HIIT cardio as well!
