When did you become unhappy with your weight?
I began gaining weight and was unhappy about it for 20 years, until I began losing weight!
What made you decide to lose weight?
I looked under every rock for a way to still eat what I wanted and lose weight. There was none. I faced the reality that I had to change what I was eating.
What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
Counting calories and eating less.
What was most challenging about losing weight?
Saying “no” to excuses. I still have a hard time talking myself out of the bad choices.
How long did it take you to start to see results?
I began seeing a dietitian and making that commitment forced me to change my behavior.
How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
I lost about 40 pounds the first year, the rest have been in very small, slow but manageable increments over the next 2 years.
How long have you maintained your weight loss and how do you do it?
I’ve been at this weight for a year. It’s still an everyday struggle but absolutely worth it.
How has your life changed now that you’ve lost weight?
I just ran my 2nd marathon, both were the happiest days of my life. People constantly tell me that I inspire them and that I helped them lose weight. I love the way I look and feel better at 38 than I did at 18.

Weight loss tip #1:
Count Calories – everything except water counts and it all adds up!
Weight loss tip #2:
Track food so you know where to skim calories from.

Walk everywhere possible-it all adds up.

Aim to lose large amounts in small increments, it’s less intimidating.
Weight loss tip #5:
Make a mental list of why you’re trying to lose weight and mull it over when deciding what to eat. It’s only too late once you eat something!
Rose’s Weight Loss Eating Plan!
Egg whites, 2 ounces of cheese with turkey bacon or turkey pepperoni.
Salad or Subway turkey breast hero.
4 ounces of pasta or a chicken breast with steamed veggies.
Snacks or Mini Meals:
Peppermint patty (160 calories), whole wheat English muffin with light butter or jelly, celery sticks with dip, reduced fat sour cream and salsa.

3 days per week for 1/2 hour.
