Shira’s Weight Loss Story!
When did you become unhappy with your weight?
In college, I gained 30 pounds my freshman year from drinking at frat parties and late night pizza deliveries. By age 25, I packed on another 20 pounds from emotional eating prompted by a stressful job and an unhappy relationship.
What made you decide to lose weight?
I turned to therapy to improve my self-image and it prompted a desire to treat myself like a friend. That’s when I started exercising and eating better.
What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
Exercise, drinking close to 10 glasses of water daily, cutting out caffeine and chocolate, eating more fruits and veggies and also recording my daily food intake.
What was most challenging about losing weight?
Learning a whole new way to live for the long-term. I took it slow and made lasting changes for permanent weight loss.
How long did it take you to start to see results?
Almost immediately. I lost the first 15 pounds within three months.
How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
A total of 15 months.
How long have you maintained your weight loss and how do you do it?
I have maintained my weight loss by continuously changing up my exercise routine to
prevent boredom, carefully watching nutrition and avoiding processed foods whenever possible.
How has your life changed now that you’ve lost weight?
It opened up a whole new world of confidence and opportunities. The weight loss success gave me the guts to start my own business, pursue dreams and end an unhappy marriage to now be with the right guy for the rest of my life.

Shira’s Weight Loss Tips!
Weight loss tip #1:
Don’t eat anything three hours before bedtime.
Weight loss tip #2:
Drink at least ten glasses of water a day, which keeps you feeling full and hydrated.
Weight loss tip #3:
Record what you eat each day to stay on track.
Weight loss tip #4:
Try to do something active most days of the week, but also respect your body’s need for rest.

Avoid processed foods.
Shira’s Weight Loss Eating Plan!
Egg white omelet with cheddar cheese, spinach and mushrooms.
Turkey burger patty, spinach salad with avocado and veggies.
Baked fish with steamed broccoli and oven baked sweet potato wedges.
Snacks or Mini Meals:
Protein smoothie made with unsweetened almond milk and frozen blueberries, roasted almonds with 1/2 banana, Greek yogurt and fruit.
Shira’s Weight Loss Workouts!
I workout with a personal trainer twice a week. I do an hour with a combination of exercises that use my body weight, free weight and some machines and then one day a week on my own for about 30 minutes.
Spin classes once or twice week, combination of interval training on either the treadmill, step mill or elliptical machine three times a week.
