Surina’s Weight Loss Story!
When did you become unhappy with your weight?
I have never really been satisfied with my weight. Ever since I was a small child, I have been slightly overweight. As an adult, I became obese.
What made you decide to lose weight?
One day in January of 2006, I felt like I was going to literally pop from eating so much junk food. I got fed up and bought a scale and it read 251.5 pounds and I nearly fainted. That was my turning point and I began my weight loss journey.
What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
I had to learn I needed food to live and not to live for food. I learned to leave all fast food alone and I now eat more high fiber foods such as whole grains, fresh fruits, vegetables and lean meats.
What was most challenging about losing weight?
The cravings for unhealthy foods. I had a special bond with pizza and french fries. I had terrible cravings for both and I had to fight with all my might not to give in to the temptation.
How long did it take you to start to see results?
It took me a month to see my efforts pay off. I lost a dress size in about 3 1/2 weeks.
How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
It took me 18 months to lose 111 pounds.
How long have you maintained your weight loss and how do you do it?
I have been maintaining my weight loss for 6 months now and counting. I eat small meals throughout the day and I live a more active lifestyle.
How has your life changed now that you’ve lost weight?
I can shop in any store. I get a whole lot of compliments and many people ask for my advice on what they can do to lose weight. I’m a lot healthier and happier because I now know what it feels like to get rid of the extra weight and keep it off for life.

I followed ShapeFit’s weight loss tips and it worked! ShapeFit has taught me to eat well, live well and to never give up on myself. I listened and now I’m 111 pounds lighter and I’m loving it!
