Tomeka’s Weight Loss Story!
When did you become unhappy with your weight?
I’ve been unhappy with my weight as long as I can remember. I had my first child while still in school and couldn’t lose the weight after that. It just got worse after each child.
What made you decide to lose weight?
My father had a stoke at age 57 and it left him totally blind. It was due to high blood pressure. I was taking 2 different medications when he had his stroke. My sister who was 31 also had a stroke caused by high blood pressure. I knew I would be next if I didn’t make some changes.
What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
I stopped eating meat, cut out sodas, fast food and junk food.
What was most challenging about losing weight?
Being consistent. Not seeing changes fast enough made me want to give up.
How long did it take you to start to see results?
It took me a while. People around me noticed within a couple of months.
How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
What keeps you motivated to continue your weight loss success?
Seeing my hard work pay off and having people compliment me. Especially my husband.
How has your life changed now that you’ve lost weight?
My life has changed tremendously. I no longer stay home every weekend being ashamed to go out. I’m able to buy cute clothes. I have so much more energy. I feel amazing.
Do you have any advice for others who are trying to lose weight?
My advice would be to keep going. Be consistent and always remember hard work pays off. Stay focused and remember why you started this journey to begin with. Your hard work will be so worth it.
How did ShapeFit help you reach your weight loss goals?
I love to look at ShapeFit’s before and after photos and read their stories. I never thought I would stick with this long enough to be actually submitting my own before and after pictures. Wow!

Weight loss tip #1:
Don’t deprive yourself.
Weight loss tip #2:
Get some form of activity in daily. Just get your body moving.
Weight loss tip #3:
Drink plenty of water.
Weight loss tip #4:
Trust the process. Remember slow progress is better than no progress.
Weight loss tip #5:
Don’t beat yourself up if you fall off. Get up and give it your all.
Tomeka’s Weight Loss Eating Plan!
Vegetarian protein shake with fruit made with almond milk.
Salad with a variety of veggies or tuna with wheat crackers.
Spinach with shrimp or baked tilapia with steamed veggies.
Snacks or Mini Meals:
I try not to snack too much. If I get hungry between meals I usually eat peanut butter with a few wheat crackers. I also eat granola bars but be careful since some of them are loaded with sugar.
I’m not taking any supplements.
Tomeka’s Weight Loss Workouts!
I do light weight training 4 days a week. I haven’t started heavy lifting yet although I plan to start.
Workout DVD’s. I love Leslie Sansone’s Walk At Home workouts. I also walk and run on the treadmill.
