How much did you lose?
I lost 100 pounds and lots of inches!
When did you become unhappy with your weight?
I remember being unhappy with my weight when I was 8 years old. I lost some weight when I went to college but it all came back after having children.
What made you decide to lose weight?
I was always unsuccessful at trying to lose weight. In 2012, I was facing thyroid cancer and vocal cord surgeries. I was basically scared into going the gym, but I never looked back. I beat the cancer, lost 100 pounds and became an athlete during my journey!
What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
I cleaned up my diet by eating well-balanced and healthy meals. I continue to take fitness classes and I strength train 5 days a week.
What was the most challenging thing you had to deal with during your weight loss journey?
The challenge for me while losing 100 pounds over 3 years was dealing with 2 surgeries, partial thyroidectomy and a cancer diagnosis all along the way. The doctors said that weight gain was inevitable post-surgery, but I proved them wrong. I have also been medicine-free and I only take vitamins now for support.
How long did it take you to start to see results?
It took months for me to see results, but I set small goals along the way. Slow and steady has been my method for losing 100 pounds.
How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
It took me 3 years total to lose the weight.
Did you have any issues with loose skin after losing the weight? If so, how did you deal with it?
I don’t have any issues with loose skin, just a little baby pooch after having 3 beautiful daughters, which is a small price to pay.
How long have you maintained your weight loss and what are the most important factors for keeping it off?
I have maintained my weight loss for several months while building muscle and strength. The weight loss comes with consistency and good habits, but the inner confidence and mental strength will help keep the weight off.
What keeps you motivated to continue your weight loss success?
My before and after pictures are so motivating to me. I can feel the sadness of being trapped in my overweight body when I look at the pictures and that motivates me to keep going. Being a strong, healthy role model for my 3 daughters is also my main motivation.
How has your life changed now that you have lost weight?
My life has changed in so many ways. I am a happier woman, mother, wife and entrepreneur! I have gained an inner confidence that I never imagined I would have.
Do you have any advice for others who are trying to lose weight?
Be patient and be kind to yourself. It takes time, but be proud of your efforts big or small. You are embarking on a journey that will change you on the inside and out.

What do you normally eat for breakfast?
Greek yogurt, banana or a protein bar.
What do you normally eat for lunch?
Salad or eggs with veggies.
What do you normally eat for dinner?
Grilled chicken or fish or a salad. Lots of protein.
What do you normally eat for snacks?
Almonds, piece of fruit or some veggies.
What type of nutritional supplements do you take?
I only take vitamin B and D.

What do you do for weight training (exercises, workouts)?
I weight train twice a week with a personal trainer.
What do you do for cardio training (exercises, workouts)?
I take Les Mills group fitness classes that include Body Combat and Grit. I also supplement my fitness classes with treadmill power walking.
