How much did you lose?
I’ve lost 158 pounds so far. I started at a size 26 pants and now I am in a size 8!
When did you become unhappy with your weight?
I had been overweight starting at about age 11 and was always very unhappy about it.
What made you decide to lose weight?
I saw a picture of myself and did not recognize me and honestly did not know I was really as big as I was. I decided I had to lose weight before I started having health problems.
What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
Changing my mindset along with healthy eating and exercise.
What was the most challenging thing you had to deal with during your weight loss journey?
Seeing myself as others see me. I still sometimes see myself at 319 pounds.
How long did it take you to start to see results?
When I really noticed, it had been about a year into my journey (70 pounds lost).
How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
3 years so far.
How long have you maintained your weight loss and what are the most important factors for keeping it off?
I have been losing for about 3 years and I sometimes hit plateaus, but remind myself why I started. I have gained a whole new life!
What keeps you motivated to continue your weight loss success?
The way I feel about myself and the way my body feels.
How has your life changed now that you have lost weight?
In more ways than I thought it would. I still sometimes cry when I realize I can shop in a “normal” store and when it hits me that I am a size 8. People are more accepting of me, which is honestly heartbreaking, as weight doesn’t define you as a person. I have more confidence, I can do “normal” things and live a healthy life, which I never thought I was capable of.
Do you have any advice for others who are trying to lose weight?
Keep going. You will learn who your true friends are. There are many people who will become jealous of your success but just KEEP GOING! It will be hard, you will cry, you will ache, you will hate it and you will love it. Don’t give up because you gain SO much when you lose the weight.

Caitlyn’s Weight Loss Tips!
Weight Loss Tip #1:
Change your mindset. Once you truly commit in your mind that you WANT this for your life, you can achieve it. I used every excuse in the book and then one day it just clicked. I did not want to be unhealthy any longer.
Weight Loss Tip #2:
Push past the pain. There will be aches and pains in places you did not know existed on your body. Push past it and keep going.
Weight Loss Tip #3:
Do not give anyone’s negative attention the time of day. There will be so many people who you think would support you who don’t. Don’t pay any mind to them.
Weight Loss Tip #4:
Put yourself first. One issue I’ve always had is that I lived for putting everyone else first. I had to change that. If you cannot eat a certain food or go out drinking with friends because you have goals to meet, do not let anyone else bully you into feeling bad that you’re “missing out”. I would rather miss out on small things now than to die at a young age from being unhealthy.

What do you normally eat for breakfast?
Egg whites, peppers and turkey sausage baked into a cupcake pan.
What do you normally eat for lunch?
4 ounces of chicken and steamed vegetables with nuts on the side.
What do you normally eat for dinner?
6 ounces of any lean protein and lots of steamed or baked veggies.
What do you normally eat for snacks?
Nuts, hardboiled eggs, Greek yogurt, raw veggies, lower sugar fruits.
What type of nutritional supplements do you take?
I only use a protein powder (Muscle Milk) or amino acid (C4) right before I go to the gym.
