Delaina’s Weight Loss Interview!
How much did you lose?
I lost 123 pounds and went from a size 24 in pants to a size 8! I lost 48 total inches from my entire body!
When did you become unhappy with your weight?
I have struggled my whole life with weight issues. As a child and teenager, I was on the thick side and left high school in shape, but still weighed 190 pounds. As I had kids and life happened, I just kept gaining and never lost any of the excess weight. My highest weight on the scale was 277 pounds!

What made you decide to lose weight?
I was tired of living a “life” that was limited and controlled by my weight. I was also tired of being the “fat mom”. I wanted a better quality of life for myself and my family. I was holding them back and never even knew I was.
What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
My relationship with food and my self-worth. I really had to retrain myself in those areas. I was worth the time and I really needed to work on what I ate and when I ate it. I also had to really focus on my emotional eating issues.
What was the most challenging thing you had to deal with during your weight loss journey?
The hardest part was starting and keeping the motivation to keep going. Life happens every day and every time I turn around, there are a thousand excuses as to why I didn’t have time or energy, but overall I knew that if I didn’t get up and make it happen, I would wake up in a few months still hating the way I looked and need to start all over again.
How long did it take you to start to see results?
Within just a few days, I felt the results in my energy levels and mood, but I started to see results in a few weeks. I think it was around the 1 month mark that I noticed my clothes were looser and other people started to notice the weight loss in my face.
How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
It took me about 11 months to reach my current weight.
Did you have any issues with loose skin after losing the weight? If so, how did you deal with it?
I do have issues with loose skin and I am just trying to tone it up as I go. I use some lotions and gels that are designed for loose and saggy skin. I workout with weights 3 days a week to help tone up my loose areas.
How long have you maintained your weight loss and what are the most important factors for keeping it off?
Balance is the most important factor. We will always have cake and sugar in life and as long as we keep them in moderation and find the balance between every day eating and indulgences, there can be a happy medium.
What keeps you motivated to continue your weight loss success?
I know that I never want to see myself look like that again! I don’t want my quality of life to be as poor as it was when I was overweight. I want my kids to see and understand that they can do anything and they can change their lives at any time.
How has your life changed now that you have lost weight?
I have amazing energy now and I am very active! I love to camp and hike, I have more confidence and I’m full of life! I look at things with a much more positive attitude now and my overall outlook on just about anything I come in contact with is promising.
Do you have any advice for others who are trying to lose weight?
Just don’t give up! All progress is some progress. Educate yourself on nutrition and find what works best for you. Work on yourself and what you think about yourself. Your mind is a very powerful tool!
How did ShapeFit help you reach your weight loss goals?

Delaina’s Weight Loss Tips!
Weight Loss Tip #1:
Get your food under control and change your relationship with it! Nutrition is 80% of your results. Nutritious does not mean eating nasty foods so choose delicious and nutritious items. Food is fuel and can really be the key to weight loss.
Weight Loss Tip #2:
Do not give up! Keep pushing and keep moving towards your goal. Minor setbacks will happen, so just know that you don’t have to stop and start all over again. Keep pushing and moving forward. Don’t give up on yourself!
Weight Loss Tip #3:
Find accountability along with finding your motivation and reward system (not food related)! Find out what makes you tick and what works best for you.
Weight Loss Tip #4:
Drink water! It’s that simple, so make sure you are getting enough water and staying hydrated during the day.
Weight Loss Tip #5:
Set goals and have both long-term and short-term goals. Don’t let the negative voices deter you. It doesn’t matter how long you have been overweight or how much you have to lose, you can do it! How do you eat an elephant? One piece at a time! Weight loss is the same, you do it one pound at a time.
