How much did you lose (pounds, inches, dress/pants size)?
I lost 45 pounds (20.4 kg) in just over a year!

When did you become unhappy with your weight (were you overweight as a child or did you gain weight as an adult)?
For me it was sudden weight gain post-delivery of my baby. I gained almost 22 pounds more than what my weight was in my final trimester. I realized that during pregnancy, I really didn’t gain that much weight. Also, due to being overweight and living an unhealthy lifestyle, many health problems started.

What made you decide to lose weight?
To overcome health problems, I decided to start my journey to lose weight.

What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
I totally changed my lifestyle! I made sure I went to bed early to get enough sleep so I could wake up early and get on my routine. I also ate dinner at an earlier time which helped.

What was the most challenging thing you had to deal with during your weight loss journey?
With my busy daily routine, I would eat healthy food at home with my baby and then go work at the office to get a little time for myself which was healthy.

How long did it take you to start to see results?
Within the first 3 months, I started to notice changes in my body.

How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
It took me 6 to 7 months to reach my current weight.

Did you have any issues with loose skin after losing the weight? If so, how did you deal with it (surgery, etc)?
Fortunately, I have had no issues with loose skin after losing the weight. I’m very lucky!

How long have you maintained your weight loss and what are the most important factors for keeping it off?
It might take some time to be consistent and follow a healthy routine, but once you get on track you can maintain it. Remember, it’s 80% mental and 20% physical!

What keeps you motivated to continue your weight loss success?
When I’m complimented about looking young, it feels great! I also have no health issues now which is a huge motivator.

How has your life changed now that you have lost weight?
It has been a drastic change! I am so much more confident and active now. I feel proud about my body!

Do you have any advice for others who are trying to lose weight?
Health is really important, so you need to be dedicated. It’s all about your mindset which can really help you stay motivated to lose the weight and reach your goals.

Weight Loss Tip #1:
Drink lots of water.

Track your food intake and overall calories each day.

Balance out your meals. If you eat a big meal, then make sure to make your next meal smaller.

Workout as much as possible to build muscle and burn fat!

What do you normally eat for breakfast?
Corn Flakes, egg whites,milk, dalia (cereal dish made from cracked wheat) or poha (made from flattened rice).

What do you normally eat for lunch?
Any vegetable with 1 wheat bran roti (flatbread).

What do you normally eat for dinner?
Soup, dalia or any vegetable with bran roti.

What do you normally eat for snacks?
I mostly eat fruit for a snack.

What type of nutritional supplements do you take?
I do not currently take any nutritional supplements.

What do you do for weight training (exercises, workouts)?
I like to do power yoga for my strength training workouts.

What do you do for cardio training (exercises, workouts)?
For cardio, I like running and cycling.
