Rajesh’s Weight Loss Interview

How much did you lose?
I lost a total of 40 pounds and 6 inches!

When did you become unhappy with your weight?
I was unhappy for a long time, but it was sheer laziness and lack of determination that kept me unfit and overweight.

What made you decide to lose weight?
I was faced with high blood pressure and dangerously high blood sugar levels. I had 2 choices. I could either survive taking medication for the rest of my life or lose weight and get fit.

What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
I mentally accepted that I was standing on the edge of having serious health issues and it was now or never for me to make a real lifestyle change.

What was the most challenging thing you had to deal with during your weight loss journey?
Keeping myself motivated and training myself to change my palate by eating different healthy food choices.

How long did it take you to start to see results?
In about 2 months I started seeing results on the scale. I started feeling better within the first month of my weight loss journey.

How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
It took almost 8 months to lose all the weight.

Did you have any issues with loose skin after losing the weight?
I don’t have any major issues with loose skin. I started strength training over the last 3 months which helps to build muscle and tighten up.

How long have you maintained your weight loss and what are the most important factors for keeping it off?
It’s an ongoing process for me. I started it as just healthy living and the weight started melting off. I have not kept any specific target for weight, but have set a target of 32″ for my waistline. It’s my target to wear the same trousers that I wore when I got married 20 years ago. Living simple and basic while being moderate with your diet is the key to success.

What keeps you motivated to continue your weight loss success?
Just being healthy is the biggest motivator.

How has your life changed now that you have lost weight?
I now have an inner urge to go out and exercise. Before, when I was under stress, I would munch on food and overeat. Now, I go out for a walk and workout.

Do you have any advice for others who are trying to lose weight?
It isn’t rocket science. Just eat healthier and workout. Also, be true to yourself. You may go off track here and there, but never lose sight of your goal.

How did ShapeFit help you reach your weight loss goals?
ShapeFit.com was the prime motivator in my weight loss journey. It’s the only website I have followed. Whenever I felt down and lost, I would read weight loss success stories about how people have done wonders and would tell myself “Yes, it is possible! Don’t lose focus!” ShapeFit has been my strong psychological support. I sincerely appreciate all those people who have posted their success stories along with the vast information about nutrition and exercise that is on this website!

Rajesh’s Weight Loss Tips

Weight Loss Tip #1:
Avoid processed, refined foods. Eat foods that are derived from plants and avoid food that are made in plants (factories). This is as simple as it gets!

Weight Loss Tip #2:
Eat only when you are truly hungry and understand what “hunger” really means.

Weight Loss Tip #3:
You need to workout and sweat a little to burn calories and build muscle.

Weight Loss Tip #4:
Keep yourself hydrated! Most of the time we mistake thirst for hunger. When you feel hungry just drink some water. If that does not quench your hunger then eat some healthy food.

Weight Loss Tip #5:
Eat slowly since it gives you a feeling of fullness. Also, eat smaller portions and avoid overeating.
