Shawn’s Weight Loss Interview
How much did you lose (pounds, inches, dress/pants size)?
I lost 172 pounds! My suit jacket size went from a size 54 down to a size 44. My dress pants size went from a size 50 down to a size 34!
When did you become unhappy with your weight (were you overweight as a child or did you gain weight as an adult)?
I have always been overweight and have lost weight in the past and then gained it back and was never able to maintain or get to where I am right now.
What made you decide to lose weight?
A few select people in my life gave me the motivation. Nobody really said that I needed to lose weight, I just decided to do it on my own.
What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
I cut out all processed foods which was very important. I eliminated all processed sugars and focused on eating all-natural foods and lean meats. I’m also working out more now which is also very important.
What was the most challenging thing you had to deal with during your weight loss journey?
A big challenge during my weight loss journey was just being happy with myself.
How long did it take you to start to see results?
It took about a month or two before I really started to see any changes.
How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
It took me 7 months to reach my current weight.
Did you have any issues with loose skin after losing the weight? If so, how did you deal with it (surgery, etc)?
Yes, I have a little bit of loose skin. I’m trying to figure out what to do next. I have been building muscle to help fill in the space left by the fat loss.
How long have you maintained your weight loss and what are the most important factors for keeping it off?
I have kept it off for a couple of months and the biggest thing is the change of lifestyle I have made. Working out has kept it off and getting into a routine was a major component of my success.
What keeps you motivated to continue your weight loss success?
The same people who got me motivated in the first place which were my parents and a close friend of mine.
How has your life changed now that you have lost weight?
Gaining confidence in myself has been huge. I’m now ready to live my life the way I want to live it. I was so afraid to do that in the past.
Do you have any advice for others who are trying to lose weight?
Find the right motivation, whether it’s a person or something in your life. When you do that it will help you achieve anything you want in life!
