Stuart’s Weight Loss Interview
How much did you lose?
I have lost over 155 pounds and also dropped 15 inches around my waist!
When did you become unhappy with your weight?
I have always been unhappy with my weight. I have been big all my life and finally decided I needed to do something about it.
What made you decide to lose weight?
When my wife started losing weight for my sister’s wedding and I wanted to support her in her journey so I started too.
What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
I completely changed my outlook about food right from the start of my journey. I stopped eating junk food and bread. I also started weighing my food and keeping a food diary.
What was the most challenging thing you had to deal with during your weight loss journey?
Just looking at sweet and salty foods like cakes, biscuits and chips was very difficult.
How long did it take you to start to see results?
Honestly, it took a long time for me to see results, but other people started seeing results quickly. Once I was about 6 months into my journey, I started to notice small changes.
How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
It too me 2 years to reach my current weight.
Did you have any issues with loose skin after losing the weight?
I have loose skin around my chest and stomach and also in my thighs and face. I can’t get surgery since I’m in the United Kingdom and it is classified as “cosmetic” and my insurance will not cover it. I struggle with mental illness with it on a day-to-day basis since I have a constant reminder of how I used to look. However, I’m now seeing a counselor to help me deal with it.
How long have you maintained your weight loss and what are the most important factors for keeping it off?
I have maintained it for a year and I still want to get smaller. The main factors in my success is eating a high protein diet and not eating so many carbs. I also go to the gym 5 days a week and do weight training along with cardio exercise.
What keeps you motivated to continue your weight loss success?
I keep myself motivated by visualizing what I want to look like and also look at inspirational pictures to keep me focused on my journey.
How has your life changed now that you have lost weight?
It has changed my life dramatically! I can do so many more things now and my joints and back don’t hurt any longer. I still can’t really get used to the way I look now which will take time, but I will get there.
Do you have any advice for others who are trying to lose weight?
It all depends on how much you want it. It’s good to like the idea of losing weight, but it is the most difficult thing mentally you will ever do! It’s totally worth it though! The basic formula to losing weight is to simply eat less and move more.
How did ShapeFit help you reach your weight loss goals?
