15 Minutes of Exercise Every Day Will Help You Stay Healthy

Facebook Twitter Pinterest LinkedIn Tumblr Email

Exercising for only 15 minutes per day comes with many health benefits. An advantage of exercising every day in your own home or even outdoors is that you don’t have to buy a gym membership or use special equipment for your workouts. As long as you engage in physical activities on a regular basis, you have the opportunity to shape-up your body for the rest of your life. Some of the exercises you can do include brisk walking, water aerobics, bike riding, playing tennis, climbing stairs, mowing the lawn or even indoor activities like cleaning your house. If you have kids, get involved when they are playing around and you will find it enjoyable while also reaping a host of health benefits.

Benefits of 15 Minutes of Daily Exercise
Exercise has been linked to improving mood, increasing energy levels and improving longevity. The health benefits you can reap from exercising for just 15 minutes each day shouldn’t be ignored. Every day counts irrespective of your age, gender or physical ability. If you want more convincing evidence about why you should include some type of exercise every day, here are 8 important health benefits listed below!

    #1 – Exercise Regulates Weight
If you want to shed those extra pounds and keep them off for good, 15 minutes of daily exercise is a great way to go. When you’re active, like playing around with your kids, your body burns calories that would have been stored as fat. The amount of calories burned depends on the intensity of your activity. You don’t have to set aside too much of your time for exercises in order to reap the benefit of weight loss. Simply be more active throughout the day as you go about your normal routine at home and at work.

    #2 – Increases Energy Levels
Regardless of age, feeling exhausted after a day’s work is something nearly everyone often has to cope with. Luckily, low energy can be overcome by regular physical activities that strengthen your muscles and improve endurance. Exercises and physical activities promote the delivery of nutrients and oxygen to muscular tissues for energy production, growth and repair. Recreational activities also improve your cardiovascular health and respiratory system which helps to boost your overall energy levels.

#3 – Prevents and Fights Health Problems
15 minutes of exercise every day can help prevent and overcome symptoms associated with certain diseases including heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol among others. It has also been demonstrated that people with health conditions such as strokes, metabolic syndrome, and certain types of cancer, arthritis and depression can relieve their symptoms by getting more physically active on a daily basis.

    #4 – Exercise Improves Sleep
If you find it difficult to fall asleep at night, consider including a quick workout during the day like jumping rope or doing a few sets of push-ups. You will definitely notice an improvement in your sleep patterns. You will probably fall asleep faster and get a restful night’s sleep. However, avoid exercising near bedtime as it can make you feel too energized to fall asleep. Engage in physical activity about 3-4 hours before you retire to bed. Getting adequate sleep every night is paramount for optimal recovery and to repair your muscles.

    #5 – Improves Mood
Life is full of ups and downs, but 15 minutes of exercise per day can go a long way to improving your emotions and overall mood. Every time you engage in physical activity, certain chemicals are released in your brain, which leaves you feeling happy and more relaxed. Also, regular exercises can make you feel better about your appearance and in turn boost your self-confidence.

#6 – Daily Exercise is Fun
Exercising every day is a great and fun-filled way to spend some of your free time. Engaging in physical activities on a daily basis gives you an opportunity to unwind or a chance to enjoy tasks that make you happy. In addition, playing with your spouse, children or other family members helps you connect with them in a fun and social setting.

    #7 – Improves Sexual Performance
It is normal for sexual performance to decline with age, but exercising every day can help reverse these issues. When you engage in physical activity, you feel energized while burning calories which will help you lose weight and look better and that can have a positive impact on your sex life. You won’t feel too tired to enjoy physical intimacy with your partner if you follow a daily workout routine. In reference to a study published in the National Institutes of Health (NIH), it was found out that women taking antidepressants (which impair sexual arousal in healthy women) improved their physical and sexual arousal after following an exercise program.

#8 – Helps You Be Independent as You Grow Older
Most adults above the age of 65 spend an average of 10 hours lying down or seated, making them fall in the sedentary age group. Due to their inactivity, they are prone to falls, heart disease and early death. In reference to Dr. Nick Cavill, a health promotion consultant, there is a decline in body function as people get older, but physical activity can help slow that decline. As you grow older, being more physically active helps you to stay healthy and maintain your independence. Older adults who live actively are less prone to aches, pains and low energy.

    Conclusion
Determine the amount of physical activity you should incorporate into your daily routine. If you want to lose weight, you may need to add a little more effort into your fitness routine and your diet is always vital for long-term weight loss. Remember to ask your doctor which exercises are right for you, especially if you have an underlying medical condition or you’re on medication. As long as you want to remain in good shape for the rest of your life, set aside 15 minutes of exercise every day for a basis of good health. Playing, exercising or engaging in physical activities is a great way to make you feel better and be happier so you can live a longer life. Working out comes with many health benefits which include surrounding yourself with friends and family and other people who count most in your life. For the best long-lasting results for the rest of your life, focus on getting at least 15 minutes of exercise every day and if possible, even more!
