Jim Cook – Certified Personal Trainer and Fitness Writer

Facebook Twitter Pinterest LinkedIn Tumblr Email

Published, certified personal trainer Jim Cook has been helping people positively transform their lives through fitness for over eighteen years. Intimately familiar with the demands of time-constrained life in today’s day and age, Jim has used his varied background and vocational experiences to plug fitness understanding into clients’ lives right where they need and want it. Presenting fitness knowledge in a distilled, easy-to-understand fashion, he has helped men, women, and children between the ages of 7 to 65 find their strength.

“Above all, I help people find their strength,” he notes, “I know very few people who wake up in the morning and say to themselves, ‘Today I want to be weak.’ Most everyone would like to be solid in their life, able to take on challenges better, feel great and be more confident.” On the topic of strength, Jim has utilized his fitness training to take his own personal strength to remarkable levels and believes that you can’t tell how strong someone is just by looking at the outside.

jim-cook-3Unlike trainers that have been solely exposed to the health industry, Jim has worked in corporate America in addition to owning his own personal training business. “I feel that my experiences in the different industries in which I have worked give me the unique perspective of understanding exactly how difficult it can be to fit fitness into your busy life,” he says. “One of the most common questions I am asked is how to get great results without spending hours and hours in the gym. Since we only have so many hours in a day, it makes perfect sense to get the biggest benefit you can without wasting time.”

Jim earned his degree in Chemistry while writing fitness articles for his University’s wellness program newsletter. He feels that this exposure to the analytical process has helped him to unlock the challenges that his clients face in a very efficient manner as well as providing him with the ability to manipulate existing techniques in combinations that can provide even greater benefits.

As an answer to this and other related questions, Jim developed the High Gear Fitness System, a comprehensive program that teaches people how to maximize their fitness results and cut through the marketing hype that surrounds us to find real truth. He says about the design of the program, “I’ve helped business owners, students, people working two or three jobs, pilots, parents, corporate employees – all people with different demands on their time and energy. After training all of these diverse types of people each with their own unique situations and challenges, I noticed that there were several core points of commonality between the transformations that each person experienced. I spent the next two years compiling all of this information together into a kit… a system that virtually anyone could use to kick their health and fitness levels into high gear and break out of the rut of resolutions, diets, poor results and weight fluctuations.”

Certified through the International Sports Sciences Association, Jim provides personal training services in both a face-to-face format as well as utilizing distance methods (phone, e-mail, etc.). He has helped people throughout the United States with direct contact as well as through group speaking and presentations. Jim currently resides in Buffalo Grove, IL outside of Chicago with his wife Mila and sons Sam and Ari. He has been published in nationally distributed magazines and journals along with web publications.
