I have supposedly gained over half a stone in just 3 days which is ridiculous as I follow the same diet plan and exercise plan every day. I went down from 18 stone 2lbs to 13 stone 4lbs and am now back up to 14 stone. I have a habit of weighing myself every day and this just cant be a correct weight. I suffer with mental health issues ans this is really doing me no good at all. Should I ditch the bathroom scales. Please hellp. I am getting really desperate.
      Thanks

Hi Paul – Yes, you probably want to ditch the bathroom scale and try focusing on what you see in the mirror. If you look and feel good, don’t worry about the number on the scale. These numbers can fluctuate based on water retention and many other factors.

Thanks for answer. What I failed to mention is that i suffer with bi polar and extreme anxiety and normally walk up to 6 days a week for exercise but his has brought on a bad attack and I am not walking at the mo and feel very guilty mentally because of it. I have thrown the scales out

I’m a female and 26 years old. I weigh over 330 pounds which I gained during pregnancy. I’m broke and literally eat two hot dogs a day and nothing else. I’ve just started working out 30 minutes a day. Can I lose weight this way? I can probably add in some salad mix but that is all I have.

Blair – To successfully lose weight and keep the pounds off, you will need to modify your diet and eat more nutritious foods. Eating just 2 hot dogs a day is definitely not enough food and not the best choice for proper nutrition. If you’re on a tight budget then look for bulk foods like oatmeal, eggs, beans and brown rice. All of these foods can be found at very affordable prices especially if you’re shopping in bulk at stores like Costco, Sam’s Club or BJ’s.

Any substitutes for beans and rice? Eggs and oatmeal are great, but I can’t stand beans and rice.

I’m 16 years old, 6’1″ and my weight is 110 kg. I need some tips to help me reduce my weight. Do you suggest going to the gym or playing sports?

Hi Russell – You can actually do a combination of both. If you enjoy playing sports, that’s a great way to burn calories while having fun. The key to dropping pounds is finding an activity or exercise routine that you truly enjoy because you will be able to stick with it. Another very important part for losing weight is your overall diet and the foods you eat so make sure to read our Nutrition 101 article to learn what you should be eating to reach success.

I am a 22-year-old female who weighs 137 pounds at 5’4″. I found my BMR to be around 1,450 calories per day. I should eat this amount of calories to maintain my weight, but I usually eat 1,100 to 1,400 calories and exercise 30 minutes (cardio) and play table tennis for 2 hours. So, this should reduce my weight right? I have been doing this routine for about 2 weeks, but my weight is exactly the same. What’s wrong?

Hi Apoorva – If you used our calorie calculator, it uses an activity multiplier to find your TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure), so it should be accurate if you chose the correct activity level. If you used a different BMR calculator then you need to make sure it adds the activity multiplier into the formula to get an accurate number. 2 weeks is not a lot of time to gauge your results. Give yourself at least 90 days (3 months) to see if you’ve made any changes to your physique. The key is to be patient and disciplined with your diet and fitness routine. The results will come 🙂
