I was born in Libya (North Africa). I had spent the initial 13 years of my life there. I had enjoyed a very healthy childhood but was always chubby. For further studies, my family and I came to our native land, India. During my schooling I realized that I was not normal according to the society, I was ‘fat’. After high school and before going to college, I worked hard with my diet and exercise plan and lost almost 10 kgs. I joined BSc in one of the reputed colleges of Delhi University. In the three years of college, I was twice head of my class and participated in many events.
My confidence was boosted because now I was more open about things and was not teased by anyone about my weight and I received praise for my achievements.
All this was possible because of the various TV shows and magazines from which I learned a lot about the correct food and how to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
As a science student, it was easy to understand the facts, theories, and the words being used were very familiar. However, this was not enough for me. I wanted to know more and explore different areas of the nutrition field and I decided to share my knowledge and work as a dietitian and help obese people, by encouraging them and helping them to lose weight the right way. Therefore, I joined a diploma course in health nutrition and dietetics in VLCC institute, which is one of the brand names in the weight management industry. It is my goal to achieve success in the field of weight management and nutrition.
Losing weight is not all about physical workouts but it is also largely about balancing your mental state. Once I had developed the will and determination to lose weight , I achieved it in no time and maintaining it is was not much of a problem as I started loving my body and myself and wanted myself to be fit and healthy always. So if I can do it, so can anybody!
