Re: I hate fruit! Help
Actually is there a rule that you must eat fruit to lose weight and/or be healthy? I believe eating fruit can actually be counter-productive because of the sugar involved. And when you ingest too much sugar, it turns into fat. Some people will say "Well, it's good sugar". Well guess what? ...

Re: Maintain Weight But Reduce Fat
Hello Tristonv, I used to count calories in the past but found that it was hard to be consistent doing so. With any workout/nutrition plan, you have to be consistent to see results. Therefore, instead of counting calories, I instead, measure food. A diet of protein, legumes, and veggies are all you ...

Re: need advice on dropping weight
Hello stylist3898, Losing 25 lbs within 3 months is definitely achievable provided you clean your diet. Eliminate any carbohydrates with flour in them. Limit sugar intake. Limit diet sodas since the aspartame can promote weight gain. Up your protein intake to 1 gram per pound of body weight. Eat 4 t...

Hello running_josh, Sounds like a problem exercise enthusiast fears the most...plateau. By all means though, don't be discouraged and don't stop exercising. You simply may need to change your program to see improvements. Also, how often do you run? Don't run daily since you may be burning muscle mas...

Re: Weights and cardio
Hello salmonchef, Yes and no. First I think it's better you do cardio after your workout session. So you got that down. However, you need to ensure you're lifting intensely too. Here's why... When you lift first (especially intensely), you deplete your carbohydrate stores first (provided you ate som...

Re: i've been everywhere and im frustrated
Hello KB, Jump rope is actually a good cardio exercise, provided you do it for at least 10 min, without stopping. 10 mins of jump rope equates to almost 3 miles of running, if you can keep it up. If running is boring you spice it up by doing high intensity interval training or (HIIT). This exercise ...

Re: sad old body try to get fit
Hi badversion, First I would like to say, you're not fat. Second, are you trying to achieve an "athletic look" or a bodybuilder type? With either look you're trying to achieve, you'll definitely need to hit the weights. Because of your frame, you don't need to do any intense cardio...unles...

Re: Me at 150 wanting to keep about the same weight just better
Hi Tobalski, How much protein are you taking in? Shoot for 1 g per pound of body weight at most. Next, if you want to achieve those "pelvic cuts", concentrate on lower ab exercises. Doing hanging knee raises (use one with supports if you're a beginner) and hanging leg lifts. You can also d...

Exactly How Intense Should You Go?
I truly believe in order for you to burn maximum fat, you need to train with intensity. The real question is...exactly how intense should you go? Well before we can answer this, you need to know if you're actually working at an intensity level high enough to burn fat. There's a chart you can use to ...

Losing Weight to Feel Good, Not Look Good
Here's one of many important reasons why you haven't lost the weight yet and have trouble keeping it off for good... Treating a weight-loss program as a quick and not a long-term commitment. That word "commitment" is scary for a lot of people. That's because the word "commitment"...

Hello Kaytee, First I would like to say, even though I don't know you, I really feel for you. Believe me, I've been in your situation before. It's ironic because I used to think that jolly people (larger people) were truly jolly, until I gained weight myself and found that wasn't the case. I was mis...

Re: Help with abs needed again
Hello rudraaksh, You seemed to be in the right track as far as your exercises are concerned. However, you need to try portioning your meals and know how many calories your body needs to function daily, given your current activity level. You'll need to eat more to lose more (it sounds counter-intuiti...

Re: Food tracker!
Hello Frenchmaid1969, Well to be honest with you, I don't know how the foodtracker in this site is calculated. I'm not saying you can't rely on it, but I always found that it would be best to calculate how much calories you need to maintain or lose weight on your own. At the sake of keeping this rep...

Re: best workout routines?
What are you trying to achieve? If you want to get big, you can use the same routine you had, but progressively increase your weights. Also if you increase the volume of your exercise, by increasing the number of sets (as opposed to just 3), you should see a difference. Hope this helps Warren http:/...
