I need support and motivation!

Post by Kaytee »

Hi, I'm here for the same reason as everyone, to get into shape.
As a kid I grew up in a home that was never full with food. I ended up eating
Maybe twice a day and not very healthy either. I found myself gaining weight
Not alot but I was getting chubby. When I moved out with a friend
We always had food in the house that her parents bought. But now I find myself
Over eating to compensate for having no food in the past. Everyone in house
Are small, to be honest I'm envious. As much as they all love me they can't really
Give me the support I need because they are not in the same situation as me.
I need to some how find support and motivation. Helppp

Hello Kaytee,

First I would like to say, even though I don't know you, I really feel for you. Believe me, I've been in your situation before. It's ironic because I used to think that jolly people (larger people) were truly jolly, until I gained weight myself and found that wasn't the case. I was miserable and depressed because I didn't like what I saw in the mirror everyday. And due to the gain in weight I also wasn't able to do the things I wanted to do and used to do either. I was a mess.

What turned things around for me was when I finally made the decision to change. Life is full of choices. And every once in awhile, you have to make that tough choice. You also have to think of your longevity because fat loss or being healthy is a long-term commitment. Forget about all what is said about losing weight quickly...there are no quick fixes when it comes to this. You have to believe in your mind and in your heart that you can change.

The benefits? You'll feel more confident, accomplished, and fulfilled...and most of all, healthy. I love life and though I've never met you before, I'm sure you do to. If you continue to go down this path of over-eating you'll cut your life short. Do you have a family of your own? If so, that's your motivation. You want to see your kids grow up and live a long, healthy life. You want to be with your significant other every day, together, loving each other. If you don't have a family of your own yet then losing weight should motivate you so you can live a life long enough to have one of your own and experience the love you'll receive.

Losing weight is not just about looking good, but also feeling good and living long enough to enjoy what life has to offer; because life is truly short and you don't want to waste it. But it starts with you and your willingness to make a change.

Will you do it? It's up to you.

Kaytee,

This really touched heart. I really understand how you feel. When I was young parents split up, and not long afterwards mum remarried. I didn't get on with him at all and found that i shut myself away alot. I didn't have a TV or Computer etc then so I got bored alot, and ate through the boredom. In 4 years I gained 7stone (about 100 pounds) and confidence etc just plummeted. For the past 3 years I've been in a serious relationship, (there is a point to this by the way haha) boyfriend supports me 100% through everything I do, and as much as I know that we are both still very young, I'm confident that our relationship isnt fading anywhere any time soon. But this actually ended up making things worse because I got comfortable with him just accepting size, so let it get out of hand!! Now I'm just trying to keep myself motivated so that I can feel better about myself within life in many different ways so that I can continue to be happy and do things like one day start own family.

I truly do hope you find the strength within you to continue on with the weight issues you have found and please, dont hesitate to look to me and many others on this site for help, were all in the same boat one way or another!

Best wishes,

Emma :) x

Hi Kaytee. Thanks for sharing. The best thing I can tell you is to keep on with wanting to get healthy and find the people who can help. The thing that will keep you going is to remember to tell yourself that you are worth it and good things should happen to you. Start an exercise program that you can stick to. Starting out with something as simple as walking 15 minutes per day 3-4 times per week can get you going. Find out more about nutrition by doing something as simple as going to Google and typing in Healthy Foods. The information and the people are there if you just raise your hand and ask. Good luck
