PERSONAL TRAINER OR P90X?

Post by musculArgirl2 »

i would like to start up weights for the millionth time. I was thinking of possibly doing a personal trainer at gym for maybe 1 or 2 times a month or i could do p90x.

Once he showed me what to do i would have to do the workouts by myself after that.

i like the idea of working out from home but i can't really do pullups from home for p90x.

Also working out with a pt would help me get more familiar with the equipment so i know what i am doing. Any thoughts or suggestions on this?

kind of leaning towards p90x right now. Than just doing the pullup exercises and chin up exercises (for p90x) at another time during the day that the video requries. mainly because i will save money that way!!! But if i just did one pt session a month i could probably afford that.

i've decided to stick with p90x. I need to save money right now! but i will still keep gym memberhship. It's only 30 bucks a month which isin't bad for what you get.

As long as i stick with it i think it will work out.

I think it depends.

If you need someone to help you count to 8-12 then get a personal trainer.

If you can count that high on your own, stick with P90X. :-)

Good luck with the program. It's tough but will definitely get you shredded!

I havent come accross p90x before but the kit looks pretty comprehensive! How is it going for you? I am lookig at getting a similar sort of video for indoor cycling - although the name 'sufferfest' is pretty ominous....

Personal trainers can be expensive - although I knew someone who was starting out so got a discounted rate (http://www.danakenheadfitness.com) , to be fair though I was pretty sceptical about how much a personal trainer can help me purely because I have been going to the gym and know a fair bit about working out but it turns out they a sports science degree is quite informative!! haha. Joking aside it was pretty useful to have someone to workout with because i usually do it myself and someone who knows their stuff inside out! A couple of sessions is not that expensive and you may learn something new.

On the flipside I also do a heel of a lot of exer4cise at home so the p90x is like a virtual personal trainer so if I had to choose between a full price personal trainer it would be a tough one because the full package with p90x is pretty expensive! I dont know if you have boot camp style fitneess classes in your local parks because that would help with not having to pay gym membership?

Either one is good - I suppose the most important thing is actually ddoing it!

I agree personal trainers can be quite expensive, yet sometimes if you start out at a new gym or your current one they'll let you have one or two free sessions. I think this alone could be enough to show you what you need to do to target the areas you are looking for.
I don't do the scheduled P90X plan but instead will just do videos here and there when I know I did a good workout for a specific area, yet I use bands on the pull up versions and tie them higher on the ceiling, it's a similar motion that I really feel the burn from! Hope this helps! and good luck to you!

So how did the p90x workout for you? I'm in the middle of doing the program and was thinking about what to do next after completion. What did or are you doing?
