Nice job, especially on the bike ride. That's the sort of minor innovative htinking that will improve your chances of succeeding, because you recognised an opportunity to do something, you may not have been thinking of earlier on, or the day before and you seized on it.

So if that's the case, even more reason to be proud of identifying an unplanned bike ride opportunity :).

Though of course feel free to be proud of it, even if it was planned

I had planned on it, knowing ahead of time son's practice would give me a little "me" time. As soon as I got home from work (at 5 p.m.) I started cooking dinner, finished just before 6 p.m., then drove son to practice, dropped him off. Went back home, changed clothes, put the bike in the car and headed out to where I was gonna ride. Started riding at about 6:45, rode 45 minutes, hard, no rests - drank water while in the saddle. Got done, thru the bike in the car, got back home, cleaned up, changed and right back in the car to pick up son at 8 p.m. Whew! Hey, you do what you gotta do, it's a balancing act when you have kids, a job, and family obligations. But it can be done!

Tuesday:
B: 2 eggs, sausage. Grated a little fresh Parmesan cheese on top of eggs - I gave up cheese for the most part, but still have a little from time to time. :D
L: Small chicken breast, thigh, leg
D: pb&J on WW rounds (again, too tired to eat a big heavy meal)

Workout:
4.5 miles treadmill intervals fast/slow
2 one minute planks (yay, no back pain)
10 Diamond Incline pushups - was gonna do more, but had to throw the clothes in the dryer...and then I forgot! (no old age jokes here please! )

you are definitely a living example of that!

I don't really think pb and j is all that bad for a meal. i know the jelly has sugar and the bread has carbs but i can think of a LOT of things that are worse than pb and J. :)

I would imagine most people with a scant knowledge of diet, (I'm not labelling you such a person), would be able to do that

Wednesday was rest day. Actually had planned on running but was too tired and back hurt yesterday evening.
B: 2 eggs 2 sl. bacon
L: Pork chop, brown rice, green beans.
D: same as the previous 2 nights......I see a pattern developing here that I don't like  Help!

Thursday:
B: almond granola bar  - one of those "didn't have time to prepare breakfast, running late, grab what you can find"
L: deli sandwich, chips
D: Sweet potato, avocado, egg. Found a recipe for a baked avocado half w/ the center filled with one egg beaten w/salt & pepper. BAke at 350 for 5 to 8 minutes - Sounds delish!

I know I'm off track this week with food. First week of school has got me off track, dealing with stresses of having a kid in high school and band. Feeling overwhelmed and run down.
BUT I will persevere, just gonna take a bit of time to get into a new routine.
I'm not eating as "clean" as I would like. And I'm not eating often enough during the day.

You'll get through this, you just need to remember what you're capable doing and just get back into it.

Don't let the situation in hand dictate too much :).

Hello Fittracker peeps!

Things have been going fairly well. Busy, busy with work and family and school - same ole, same ole :D

Food has been good and bad, but mostly good 8)

Rode 19 miles on Monday. Just me, myself and I. Rode hard, tried to keep around a 4 min. mile pace - ended up with a 4:09 min. mile average. :D
Ran 3.75 miles on Tuesday - steady pace. It was so hot I felt like i was suffocating, but I pushed on and kept moving, sweated tons.

Plan on trail running today, maybe some hill sprints too.

p.s. - I'm wearing a pair of jeans that have been hanging in closet so long I forgot I had them....they are tight in the legs, but too big in the waist. I couldn't wear them before. Yay me

no loss this week on the scale tho'. :(

Great!! 19 miles is a lot outside with the elements! :D have you decided on what mileage to do for your race yet or won't you decide till october.

Yay, Lynne! It was nice catching up on your journal, keep up the great work.

It's inspiring seeing you balance things with work, school, family, and this lifestyle. It's hard to fit everything in, but it's tough to imagine doing it any other way, isn't it? You just have to think a bout how sad it would be to give up that great rush after a crazy workout or a beautiful bike ride. Even when things are tough, life is good

It's the tough things that make us stronger and make us grow. I can't imagine life without exercise, so it's not even an option for me to go without it. It HAS to be fit in somewhere, or I am not a happy person to live with.
Had a great trail run on Thursday, felt great, and for once not self conscious about body - even tho' it is far from perfect. I wore spandex shorts and a dri-fit tank, something I would never have done not too long ago. And I had two people tell me I looked really fit and strong. It occured to me that you CAN be fit and strong and not be a certain size on a label in a pair of pants, you know? It felt good to know that even if Im not tiny and size 0 (never will be unless I lose a limb) that I can still portray a healthy body image and others perceive me as athletic and strong. That is HUGE for me!
We keep ourselves in these emotional prisons trying to achieve a certain level or look that may or not be realistic. Sometimes we are blinded to how AWESOME we are! :D

21 mile bike ride on Saturday, felt great, could have gone farther.
Planning on a 25 miler this weekend. :D

todays meals:
B: 2 slices bacon, 2 eggs
L: tuna salad sandwich with tomato, onion, romaine
S: apple slices w/pb
D: shrimp salad or stir fry w/sweet potato

Gotta brag just a little.....

son won a pushup challenge at school today, not just in his class, but the entire lunch room crowd grades 9-12. A visiting Marine gave a challenge to see who could do the most pushups - son won with 42 pushups!! The Marine gave him a cap and on the side of the cap it said "EARNED NEVER GIVEN"
THAT'S BOY!!!!!

He's got a fine example to look up to and I mean you not the marine. Although the marine is not a person to be sniffed at I would imagine

Well lets see......

Diet is about the same, 80/20 ratio....but that 20% was really bad yesterday  Had a birthday party for mom - ate cake, chips, cookie - basically a processed food fest.
Ended up with an intense headache. So much for that!

Saturday workout was awesome:
31 miles on the road bike-distance PR!
2 hr. 5 min. / avg 4 min. 9 sec. per mile
1423 calories
(II actually got hunger pains before I finished ride 8) )

3 weeks til the Bike Race.....I GOT THIS!!!! :D :D :D

Sunday workout: 4.5 mile run.
Legs were still tired, felt a bit sluggish but glad I did it - ran with a friend, shared some early morning laughs.

I am inspired by Karries new journal "15 weeks of work" - I will try to do the same on own plan :D :D
