Help please!!
Im a slim 27yo .
I have always been slim, i joined the gym to gain some weight and size...which has worked. However the problem im having and hoping people can help with is the following;
chest workout seems to have given me breasts rather then the chiselled chest I was hoping. First i thought i may have strengthen lower chest muscles too much so then I concentrated on upper chest but that has not worked either.
Ive read that genetics play a part in the chiselled chest but is there nothing i can do too. Am i missing something?
Any help would be much appreciated!!

Re: chest workout
Have you used any supplements, prescribed medicines or anything like that recently?
Re: chest workout
The only thing I've taken is Protein drinks. Once a day apart from on gym days when i have 2 a day.
Re: chest workout
Okay, I was just checking to make sure you weren't taking anything, that might have an oestrogenic effect.
What could do is, if you do more than one bench press exercise, stick to inclines and flat, don't do any declines, unless you have the declines, because if you're not at least having more upper build to compensate for the lower pec build, it might cause an inability to balance out the pecs and the lower pec area, could be causing a bit of pectoral sag, by pulling on the middle pec and then you're not getting a counter-effect from the upper pec area.
If that makes sense.
So either do flat, decline and inclines, or ditch declines and just do flat and inclines. Either of these might help, but I can't guarantee that.

Hi,
That makes sense in theory...so i will try that. Thanks for your help.

Re: chest workout
As a general rule, inclines should work upper chest, flat presses should develop center chest and declines should develop the lower chest and lower lines. That being said, I believe it is very difficult to isolate and develop different areas of the same muscle group unless it is a larger muscle mass with pronounced development. If the lower chest is developing faster than the upper, I would advise concentrating on incline actions. If the breast-like appearance wasn't noticeable prior to your fitness program it is probably due to genetics or fat buildup due to diet. Fat deposits are genetic for each person as well in terms of where they appear and to what degree. If your diet has changed dramatically as well, then your changes in appearance may be due more to diet than training. Try inclines first - if that does not work, alter your diet. If neither works, it may be something you will have to live with or simply develop other areas of your body that respond better to take the emphasis off or your chest. Just thoughts!
