Lose weight or tone up?

Post by t.kelly8622 »

I am 5'7 and 130 lbs. and i know according to the BMI chart i am at a healthy weight but i do not want to look like this. I look very pudgy and for almost 2 weeks i cut out sodas and drink strictly just water. And eating cleaner and consume probly 1350 calories a day! And plus i work out 6 days a week now. Am i on the right track? I feel like giving up most of the time b/c i feel like what i am doing is not working. Please help.

Hi there, nice to converse with you :).

I think your calories are too low for working out with, which might hinder you, as the body could think you're in a starvation mode and shut up shop on the giveaways.

Sedentary females need 1,800 calories a day and you could add another 200-300 in there for exercise, but I'd aim at least for the 1,800, on training and non-training days and if needs be, eat around 10-15% more on training days, so you have extra calories to burn.

The extra nutrients would be good too, as depending on the nutritional intake associated with the food choices your having, to get your 1,350 calories a day approximately, you might be lacking a bit in bone nutrition and if the bones started thinning, they might potentially thin to a point where the forces applied through exercise, would be untolerable and then a fracture of some kind might occur.

This is not meant to scare you or worry you unduly, it's just because I care I wanted to share feelings on your situation, rather than soft soap or be a little false in assessment of you by not saying such things and if what I eluded to did happen and I'd said nothing, I'd feel a bit bad if I knew, knowing what I have said above might have been heeded and any risk described prevented :).

In order to understand your situation better, what foods do you eat and what times do you eat them?

You're definitely on the right track, so you won't need to change much I don't feel. It's probably going to be a case of quantity of calories rather than quality.

The main thing is to keep persevering and believing that you ARE worth it and that you're not wanting unhealthy goals, where you end up less than 100lbs in weight, I'm pretty sure of that, so your goals are healthy and doable and if you keep believing in yourself and the benefits to your inner health too, not just how you might look, then that belief will help you create a good longlasting body for the rets of your life if you want it :).

You can be proud of yourself or wanting this, rather than being someone who thinks because they're not overweight they're healthy, or need not look after themselves better than they do do, but health counts on the inside and the important parts of you are not really the cosmetic parts, it's the functional parts and keeping in mind, the bigger picture is always a very important thing, when you're assessing how you're progressing, because progress happens in ways you can and can't see :).

Hopefully you and we as a community can help you adjust your calories and keep you motoring on the right path, but GOOD LUCK with this, because you should be proud of caring for yourself like this and i'm proud to have come across someone like you, that cares about themselves like you are doing and whatever you have done so far to make change happen, WELL DONE and keep on persevering with it, because as I said above, you ARE worth it okay :).

It seems that you have so little toning up to do.
