Quick Advice

Post by J0kerr »

I am looking for some quick edits/advice to workout

I can only get to the gym 3 times a week and here is what I do:

Treadmill for 30 minutes
Walking at 2.8 MPH
Running every 5 minutes for 1 minute at 7.1 MPH

Then I do the Chest Press Machine - 12 reps/3 sets of increasing weights...If I can do 12 reps in all three sets I increase weights next visit
Then Bicep Curl Machine - 12 reps/3 sets of increasing weights...If I can do 12 reps in all three sets I increase weights next visit
Then Ab Curl Machine - 12 reps/3 sets of increasing weights...If I can do 12 reps in all three sets I increase weights next visit
Then Row Machine - 12 reps/3 sets of increasing weights...If I can do 12 reps in all three sets I increase weights next visit

Should this help me gain a little muscle, get tone, and lose weight?

Right now I have done this for 3 weeks, and arms have gotten slightly bigger (not more tone) and I have gained about 5 pounds. Does this sound right? Am I doing OK?

Your weight workout misses many important muscle groups. If you want to burn more calories while building muscle try doing circuits that include: deadlifts (with barbell), chest press switch each workout between (machine, dumbbells, or barbell), seated shoulder press, and switch between row machine, pulldowns, or pullovers each session. Add abdominal work on a balance ball rather than on a machine. Do 3 circuits resting only between circuits. This is very basic, but gets all the major muscle groups.
