Eggs as supplement

Post by Manfi »

I have a friend who makes himself protein shakes with raw eggs. Apart from the salmonella risk (which is actually rather low if the chickens are kept in hygienic conditions), is this a good idea? Can raw eggs be digested well?

Which ways of cooking eggs do you recommend to preserve the protein bioavailability?

Scrambling is probably the best way, because it's the quickest as well. Poaching and Boiling could be as good, but take longer.

As for Salmonella, matters not the levels of risk, depending on possible Bird conditions. If the risk is there, it makes no sense for anyone to take it.

I can't answer your question about Raw Eggs, except to say they probably do digest well, but refer you to previous comment.

I wouldn't risk with raw eggs. I would go with the boiled eggs. It's more work but its less fat.. :D
