Exercise for Shoulder/Arm definition ??
hi,
I am looking for specific dumbbell exercises for achieving the type of shoulder/arm definition.
How to get the line (wide "V") running across the arm ? Will it be achieved by shoulder or arm workouts ?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Shoulder exercises include side raises, lying side raises, front raises, shoulder press, cuban press, shrugs and arnolds.

Since you suggested shoulder exercises, assuming thats needed for that particular muscle definition.

Muscle definition is a component of muscle to fat ratio. Boss Man's exercise advise is right on. Consider your body fat as well, do you need to lose the sheath covering your muscle. Sprint training would be ideal as you would lose fat while gaining lean body mass.
Best,

I do a total body workout, then I tack a specific body workout onto the end. Shoulders happen to be one of favorite areas to train. You have to make sure to hit your front and rear delts, as well as your arms, back, and chest. After total body workout, I do 3 sets of 4 shoulder moves. You said you like using dumbells, which is what I use.
Seated overhead press
Seated alternating front raise
Seated row
Upright row
During total body workout, I do 3 sets also. The upper body part looks like this:
pushups
bent-over row
lateral raises
biceps curls
skullcrusher
Just use the dumbell weight you are comfortable with now, or you could use resistance bands. Do 10-15 reps, or whatever you can manage. Hope this helps.

For back you HAVE to train heavy! Your rows and Chins are great, but keep the weight up! Think about how big you're back muscles are, they're explosive so respond to heavy powerful pulls (Rows) and big compound exercises like your chins.
This heavy training is also the best way to build up your grip strength and arm size really really quickly! Check this program out http://www.bouncefit.com.au/1/post/2013 ... fting.html
Go for 5 weeks and you'll notice the difference in your 'V' and big strength gains which will help all your otehr lifts!
Good luck mate!!!

Do you have a photo illustrating the 'V'?
There are a lot of shoulder exercises using the DB...
- Shoulder Press
- Lateral Raise
- Deltoid Raise
- Upright Row

Incorporate drop sets before finishing each exercise. It helps break down the muscle even more than a regular set.
Re: Exercise for Shoulder/Arm definition ??
I've tried those before, but was not overly impressed by them and it just makes you take longer as well.
Some people will say different of course, based on personal experience, so I wouldn't say drop sets are rubbish and not to do them, but from personal experience I have never rated them.
I feel the same about pyramid sets as well.

Drop set's have definitely worked for me. I have seen vast improvement in muscle size ever since incorporating them in routine. They also get your heart rate up, so it's incorporating cardio in each set as well.

Best exercise using Dumbells for shoulder are:
Shoulder Dumbell Press
Lat raise
Bent Over Lat raise
This exercises targets all the 3 sides of your shoulder which is front, lateral and rear delts.
The one that you are saying V shape can be achieve if you also do your biceps and triceps exercise.

I am just going out on a limb here and guessing that everybody here is giving you advice on shoulder and back stuff, when in reality what you are talking about is the tricep on the back of your arm, but I could be wrong. I don’t know of any other V related to shoulders or arms. If this is what you are talking about, you need to focus on tricep exercises, which is the muscle that will look like a V when it is defined, due to it’s two branches. Let me know and I will recommend some good exercises. As for dumbbell exercises that will build arms, check out this video library - http://bicepsworkouts.co/videos/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. That should help you get started.amind wrote:hi,
