Well, I did it, I completed first ever half marathon

goal was to finish in 2 hours 30 minutes, best case scenario was to finish in 2 hours 25 minutes...
actual finish time was.....
DRUMROLL PLEASE.....
2 HOURS 12 MINUTES!!!!!!!!
I have never been so excited about something in life!!! I made this goal for myself so long ago and I was finally able to make it happen, and not only did I finish, but I crushed goal time!!!!!! What an exhilarating day!
The race was on Lake Michigan so it was absolutely gorgeous!!!!! I have never been as terrified as I was when they started the countdown when we were in the corral. I had only slept about 4 hours last night so I was really nervous! When we started to run I had no idea what pace I was going since we were in such a big group. The very beginning was .5 miles down the harbor out onto Lake Michigan and back - so pretty! After that it was kind of torture

I didn't know Racine was so hilly

There were about 9 or 10 hills and I was not ready for it, but I managed to run the entire thing
When we were in the corral I was standing behind these two guys, they were both model good looking and well over 6 feet tall - I was so overwhelmed thinking about running with people like that - well, guess what - at mile 7
I passed them!!! And I beat them by 17 minutes

I think that was most proud moment of the entire run! I started at a 10 minute pace and ended with an average 10:05 pace - I couldn't believe I kept it up the whole time. worst mile was mile 10 at 10:40. That kind of surprised me because I would have thought mile 12 would have been, but 11 and 12 were 10:26.
I have to say, I was surprised at how good I felt through most of the race. At mile 6 I was thinking, wow, I could run forever! The only times I struggled were on the uphills, but I pushed through. At mile 6.5 hands went numb, but I was pleasantly surprised that it took that long AND they never got super bad, they never really hurt like they did last weekend. So apparently the chiropractor is helping. At mile 10.5 I hit a wall - that's where we turned around back onto the lake road and we were running directly into the wind. By mile 12 I didn't know if I could even finish. I honestly don't know where I got the energy to go the last 1.1 mile, I guess I dug from somewhere super deep within and just emptied mind and went on auto pilot!
I was so excited when I knew there was less than a half mile left - and that's when I saw the last hill

It was short and not super steep, but it was kind of a slap in the face to make us finish UPHILL! I really didn't have the energy to push, but I managed. When I got to the top of the hill all I had to do was turn left and the finish was about .1 away. Once again I found something deep down that allowed me to sprint (OK, so maybe it was more of a jog, but in that excruciating moment it felt like a sprint to me

).
Crossing that finish line was a feeling like nothing I have ever experienced. I don't even know how to describe it. It has been a goal for so long and to finally accomplish that was just amazing!
I will upload some pictures later, and then when I get the official pictures from the site I will post more. By the way, I got to meet Jeff and Franci from season 14 of The Biggest Loser - they are awesome!!! I will post that picture too. RIght now I just want to eat and crash!
